Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

This assignment is in support to the UNFPA West and Central Africa Regional Office. Under the direct supervision of Regional Communications Advisor, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Develop, plan and implement digital, social media and communications campaigns and strategies
  • Provide engaging text, image and video content for all social media and professional accounts
  • Create engaging content for all platforms, including the website, blog pieces, articles, social media posts, newsletters, and videos.
  • Engage with online community and respond to comments and requests.
  • Analyse web traffic and relevant community metrics and systematically report performance.
  • Relay community feedback to relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Devise and implement community communication initiatives.
  • Liaise with other Units to stay updated on new marketing initiatives, product and service developments, and to ensure brand consistency.
  • Attend networking events or relevant industry workshops.
  • Liaise with other offices, UN external agencies, partners or journalists to ensure accurate brand representation
  • Monitor, track and report on feedback and online reviews
  • Stay up-to-date with digital technology trends
  • Any other tasks that might be assigned by the regional office.
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:
  • University degree, (preferably advanced degree) in social sciences, international relations, communication, information management
Required experience: 24 Months Experience remark:
  • Proven work experience as a community manager, digital and social media management or similar role
  • Experience planning and leading online community initiatives
  • Hands on experience with social media management, applications and content management systems
  • Ability to analyse and interpret website traffic
  • Knowledge of online marketing
Language skills:
  • French(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Working Knowledge
Area of expertise: Public information and reporting, Other communications related experience Area of expertise details:
  • Proven work experience as a community manager, digital and social media management or similar role
  • Experience planning and leading online community initiatives
  • Hands on experience with social media management, applications and content management systems
  • Ability to analyse and interpret website traffic
