Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the Logistics Officer and the Chief of MSC, the UNV Logistics Assistant is responsible for the following duties:

  • Identifies all routine logistics requirements within the mission, prepares, implements and controls appropriate methods to cater for them, ensuring optimal utilization of available resources
  • Provides logistical and operational support to mission clients in terms of allocation of stock within the warehouses, initiating the movement of stock internally and initiating the physical count
  • Participates in generating an effective and efficient logistics planning and coordination with all Mission logistics related stakeholders and clients;
  • Reviews Mission's logistics implementation plan and operational directives to develop effective deployment plans and prioritization for goods and materials movements to mission location Prepare logistics and support plans, deployment for planned or new operations;
  • Participates and ensures the development of logistics emergency, contingency plans and identifies ways to overcome obstacles when delivering goods.
  • Develop logistical plans for existing operations; Develop logistics contingency plans;
  • Develop and implement methodologies and tools to enable effective execution of logistic plans; Coordinate logistics support to regional office in the area of responsibility;
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all the main logistics stocks, such as water, fuel (Jet A1 and diesel), meals-ready-to-eat (MREs), air support, vehicles, communication equipment, generators and engineering equipment etc;
  • Report daily through the Log Ops Office in Bangui on the logistics status and/or immediate problems;
  • Prepare reports on personnel and material movements and other operational logistics issues; Participate in technical survey missions for new missions and pre-deployment verification visits to troop contributing countries;
  • Coordinate logistics operations with UN agencies, UN military, UN police and other organizations upon request.
  • Perform other tasks related duties, as assigned by direct supervisor

Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Secondary education Education - Additional Comments:

Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, Law or other relevant field

Required experience: 48 Months Experience remark:

A minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience managing diverse logistics operations in Military/ Police, commercial or international organizations;

Language skills:
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • French(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
Area of expertise: Logistics and supply management, Other premises management/maintenance, supply, or purchasing related experience Driving license: Yes Competencies values:
