OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST

Under the overall authority of the Chief of Section for Digital Innovation and Transformation (CI/DIT) and the direct supervision of the Programme Specialist responsible for Open Educational Resources (OER) and digital competencies, the Individual consultant shall assist in the day-to-day content and administrative  implementation of Open Educational Resources (OER)  and the ICT Competency Framework for Teachers (ICT CFT) activities.


The incumbent will specifically undertake the following tasks:


Backstopping of programme implementation

  • Assist in organizing meetings, workshops and trainings, including logistical and administrative support, both in face-to-face and virtual modalities, including in cooperation with UNESCO central services.
  • Attend and report back on related external and internal meetings and activities as required
  • Draft correspondence, reports, concept notes, speeches, briefings, proposals, and other documents related to project activities
  • Contribute to the development of Terms of Reference and procurement of international consultants, experts and service providers and ensure close supervision for quality delivery of products and services to implement the programme activities
  • Assist in supporting gender responsive strategies for the implementation of project activities
  • Support the establishment and maintenance of electronic collaborative working spaces for the implementation of activities in a multilingual and multicultural environment
  • Support of information and knowledge management, communication, outreach and partnership building activities
Long Description

Web and Social Media

  • Generate, prepare and edit content for the websites and social media to ensure material is consistent and up to date
  • Support the management of the contents of the materials on the  related UNESCO websites, including through the drafting and editing  of reader-friendly web content aimed at increasing website traffic for programme activities on the UNESCO website
  • Develop/produce communication and advocacy instruments and materials   including briefing materials and press releases 
  • Keep abreast of digital media trends and identify new opportunities to increase the visibility of programme activities on online platforms and provide advice on appropriate action/responses 
  • Effectively manage and lead social media campaigns to strengthen awareness and key messages among target audiences at key moments, in collaboration with the Programme Specialists and the communication team of the CI Sector and sometimes of the Organization

Deliverables

  1. Monthly reports including the achievements and pending activities for the effective accomplishment of tasks, together with other related outcomes such as:  Communication materials (e.g. articles, brochures, publications) produced during the contract.
  2. Final Report at the end of the contract period summarizing activities completed during the contract.

Education

  • Advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent and above) in education, communication, social sciences or related field with competence to design and develop communication products and multimedia materials
     

Work Experience

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience, at least one at the international level in education with a focus on OER and ICT and Education
  • At least 1 year of relevant work experience in the establishment and maintenance of electronic collaborative working spaces  and web and social media services for the implementation of activities in a multilingual and multicultural environment

Languages

  • Excellent knowledge of English and French. Knowledge of Spanish, Russian, Chinese and/or Arabic will be an asset.

Additional Information

  • No travel to the duty station is supported 
  • This contract is for a period of 11 months.  Estimated start date is: 15 September 2020
