Job Overview: The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for collaborating with IRC staff to determine volunteer and intern needs; recruit, screen, train and supervise volunteers and interns; provide on-going support and guidance for volunteers and interns; and manage volunteer information in a central database system.  Supervision of interns includes Social Work students receiving their bachelor’s or master’s degrees. 
Major Responsibilities: 
Volunteer Coordination
oCoordinate with staff to determine volunteer and intern needs. 
oRecruit and interview volunteers and interns from the community, local universities/colleges, and corporations.
oConduct information sessions for potential volunteers, interns, and social work placements.
oConduct orientation sessions for all accepted volunteers, interns, and social work placements.
oMaintain regular communication and act as a liaison between IRC staff and volunteers, interns, and social work placements.
oRequest intern and volunteer IT accounts.
oMaintain intern and volunteer files.
oSolicit opportunities to speak publicly about the work of IRC and actively recruit community involvement.
oActively participate in the Volunteer Coordination Communities of Practice. 
oConduct recognition events for volunteers and interns. 
Social Work Field Placements
oWork with department supervisors to determine social work field placement opportunities based on department need.
oDevelop and maintain productive relationships with Texas educational institutions with social work and internship programs. 
oProvide ongoing supervision hours to social work field placements, as dictated by the educational institution supporting the placement.
oCoordinate with social work students to complete necessary field placement administration, including placement evaluations required by educational institution.
Development and Other
oSolicit and acquire in-kind donations. 
oTrack service hours in database system for volunteers and interns. 
oEnsure compliance with confidentiality and reporting requirements.
oAssist in grant research for unrestricted and/or operational support to private foundations, federal, state, and city governments, and other grant making entities. 
oOther duties as assigned.
Job Requirements: 
Work Experience: 
Minimum of 3 years of related experience, including at least 2 years of experience managing social work field placements.
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies: 
•Proven ability to contribute both independently and as a key team member.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
•Self- starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
•Ability to prioritize and to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
•Well organized with attention to detail.
•Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural setting.
•Self-direction and initiative, when needed, to take the lead and to follow through to completion.
Education:  M.A. in Social Work required
Language Skills: Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
Certificates or Licenses: LMSW required
Working Environment:  
•Standard office working environment
•Occasional meetings with partner organizations in the community.
•Must have a valid driver’s license with legally required insurance.  Position will require using own transportation within service delivery area. Mileage reimbursement available.
