In Togo, since June 1963, UNICEF has been involved in the creation of a Togo Fit for Children, Girls, and Boys guided by the norms and principles embodied in the Convention on the Rights of the Child signed by Togo on August 1st, 1990.

UNICEF Country Office is committed to promoting and defending the Rights of the Child and helping them realize their potential and change the vision of the country with children.

The current country program Togo - UNICEF 2019-2023, aims to ensure greater equity and sustainability of actions with the commitment and ownership of all stakeholders.

The Child Survival component operates on 5 main axes: Improving immunization coverage, combating chronic malnutrition, Strengthening access to basic sanitation in the communities (ATPC), Strengthening the management of childhood diseases at the community level, HIV prevention, and treatment for children and adolescents, Strengthening access to drinking water.

The immunization officer provides professional technical assistance for immunization program activities (EPI), including data analysis, program support , delivery, progress reporting and commitment to scaling up immunization coverage, improving teamwork, and building capacity, in support of achievement of planned work plan goals aligned with the country's program objectives and strategy.

How can you make a difference?

Under the direct supervision of the Immunization Officer NOB and general guidance of the Chief Child Survival and Development, the selected candidate will undertake the following key assignments:

  1. Ensures the availability of accurate, complete and up-to-date information required for effective Immunization programme and project design, implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation. Drafts Immunization programme budgets for review by the supervisor, ensuring accuracy and appropriateness of data and coding. Drafts updated project status reports.
  2. Enhance project efficiency, effectiveness and vaccination coverage through effective implementation follow-on.
  3. Prepare timely progress reports and project work plans and provide effective technical support in the drafting of donor, annual and other reports/project documentation related to EPI.
  4. Ensure appropriateness and completeness of financial and supply documentation as well as adherence to established allotments.
  5. Contribute to Country Office staff and teamwork effective capacity building for activities related to development, implementation and management of the Immunization Programme.
  6. Promote knowledge sharing with donors and media.
  7. Ensure and maintain effective communication, networking and collaboration with internal and external partners.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • University degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Social Sciences, Medicine, Health, Public Health, Family Health, Child Development, Nursing, or a field relevant to international development assistance in Immunization and Child Survival & Health Care.
  • Background/familiarity with Emergency.
  • One year of relevant professional work experience in the area mentionned above. Field work experience. Experience in knowledge management. Training and experience in social welfare, or Immunization/ health care.
  • Fluency in French is required with good knowledge of English. Another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered as an asset.
