Overall purpose of the role: This JD serves as a ToR for DDG Benghazi’s Safety compliance. The aim of the position is to support the Safety Assistant in ensuring the physical safety and security of all DRC/DDG staffs and assets through manning of access points, management of entry to DRC/DDG premises.

This role is to Provide entry point management of office, monitor the overall safety situation and implement safety regulations and safety plans as designated by the safety team.                                                                                                      .

The Guard will work under the line-management supervision of the Safety Assistant and Area Manager in Benghazi with the technical support of the Libya Safety Coordinator.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure security of DRC staff and property
  • Secure DRC facilities including all the vehicles parked in the area 
  • Patrol facilities regularly when it is not occupied, especially at night
  • Control access to DRC facilities
  • Assist in watering flower garden and tender to lawns
  • Assist in keeping the facility and street outside clean.
  • Enforce DRC’s no weapons policy 
  • Welcome visitor: ensuring the visitor’s book is signed and direct visitors to the office 
  • Switch on/off generator and water pumps as required
  • Report any security incident to the safety team
  • Follow DRC security guidelines
  • Monitoring the cameras (CCTV)"

  • Any other tasks assigned by line manager

Experience and technical competencies:

  • At least 1-year experience in a similar role. Prior experience working with NGO/UN Agency is an asset.
  • Physically fit.
  • Fluent in written and spoken Arabic. With basic English proficiency
  • Good writing skills in reporting.
  • Excellent discipline with the ability to follow direct instructions.
  • Well organized, proactive, flexible, and trustworthy.
  • Ideally, you will also have:
    • Stable and robust character with excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
    • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment

General Regulations:

  • The employee shall follow DRC/DDG instructions on safety, confidentiality, and ethical guidelines, including the Code of Conduct and the Humanitarian Accountability Framework.
  • The employee should not engage in any other paid activity for any other agency during the DRC/DDG contract period without Country Director's authorization.
  • The employee should not engage in any activity that could harm DRC/DDG or the implementation of any project during the DRC/DDG contract period.
  • The employee should not give interviews to the media or publish project-related photos or other material without Country Director's authorization.
  • The employee shall return all borrowed equipment for the project to DRC/DDG after the end of the contract period or upon the Country Director's request.
