BACKGROUND OF THE ORGANIZATION

IsraAID Greece, a nonprofit Hellenic organization, works with refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants helping them to overcome trauma, learn languages, cope and strengthen their wellbeing and resilience. IsraAID Hellas works in two main areas, Thessaloniki and Lesvos.

SUMMARY

IsraAID Greece is looking for a part-time Financial Administrator who will be deeply involved in organizing, controlling, and monitoring the financial resources of IsraAID Greece, to achieve organizational objectives.

The Financial Administrator reports to and works closely with the Country Director and finance team in Israel.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR

  • Manage the program budgets for the missions in Thessaloniki and Lesvos, monitor the flow of money within the proposed budget;

  • Manage the organization’s cash flows, prepare regular pipelines and expenses reports;

  • Ensure adherence to and establish, when needed, finance and supporting function policies, systems, and procedures, performing their development, documentation, and implementation;

  • Review and account for procurement transactions to ensure adequate supporting documentation, the accuracy of amounts, and control overpayments;

  • Oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management;

  • Assist Country Directors and Heads of Mission with the preparation of project budgets, provide support and guidance to team members in the field of expertise;

  • Ensure compliance with regulators, donors’ requirements, etc.;

  • Administer petty cash and keep appropriate financial records;

  • Manage organizational credit cards, monitor balance, and bookkeeping;

  • Work closely with the organization’s accountant, and the organization’s bank to perform financial operations;

  • Manage donations and donation declarations;

  • Support internal and external audit procedures;

  • Carry out any other tasks deemed necessary for the mission by management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES

Required:

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or another related field;

  • 1-2 years Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, ideally in the nonprofit sector;

  • Knowledge of Greek finance regulations, particularly those concerning NGOs;

  • Intermediate or higher working level of Excel; experience in financial software is desirable.

Languages:

Required: fluent Greek and fluent English
