Education Manager G8 (National Position) - Damascus

The purpose of the position of the Education Project Manager is to lead implementation of the research on the barriers faced by children and youth while accessing formal and non-formal education.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Planning and implementation of the research in coordination with Education specialist
  • Draft project activity plan and ensure timely implementation;
  • In coordination with CC specialist participate in recruitment of the project staff and their training based on project requirements;
  • Provide technical supervision and guidance to Research Team Leader, Information
  • Management Coordinator and Research Consultant(s).
  • Provide expertise and technical inputs to the process of designing data collection tools and methodologies.
  • Conduct frequent visits to the project areas (50% of time).
  • Data entry and analyses:
  • Ensure that research data is collected, stored and processed in due time and respecting NRC’s data protection standards.
  • Provide technical input and expertise to the process of data analyses to identify main trends and patterns.
  • Provide input to the process of report drafting, review and dissemination.
    Compliance and reporting:
  • Follow up on compliance with contractual commitments ensure high technical quality and synergies in project implementation
  • Follow up on the donor reporting and ensure that relevant reports are submitted timely and with the high quality.
Qualifications
  • Academic Certificate/Degree in teaching or education is desirable.
  • Previous experience of working in education programming in humanitarian/recovery context;
  • Previous experience in designing/leading research (desk review, qualitative and quantitative data collection) and data analyses.
  • Experience of using data analyses software such as SPSS, STATA or similar will be considered as an asset.
  • Previous experience of managing teams.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of the context in Syria and neighbouring countries
  • Experience of programming in the region
  • Experience of programme scale-up and scale-down
  • Experience of leading inter-agency coordination and collaboration
  • Experience of working in a co-op/matrix management structure or similar
  • Experience of working with partners
  • Experience of collaborative working with remotely based colleagues

We can offer
Contract Period: 4 months contract, with possibility to extend based on the budget availability and performance. 
Salary/Benefits: According to NRC's salary scale and terms and conditions. 
Duty Station: Damascus
