Youth Community Engagement Assistant

Eligibility criteria

Candidate age: between 18 and 29 throughout the entire duration of their assignment. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Under the supervision of the Team Leader of Institutions and Partnerships with dotted reporting line to the Youth Engagement Officer and the Youth Team in UNDP Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, the National UN Youth Volunteer will:

Youth Co:Lab Project Implementation and Youth Engagement

  • Assist in the Youth Co:Lab Philippines activities, i.e. National Dialogue, Ecosystem Discussions and Innovation Challenge;
  • Support the formulation and implementation of the UNDP Philippines Youth Engagement Strategy;

Movers Programme

  • Organise and facilitate online and offline Movers Programme workshops for Filipino youth;
  • Manage and oversee Movers Programme events and members in the Philippines;
  • Support the creation and management of an accessible community engagement platform for stakeholders;
  • Support in adapting and localizing Movers training curriculum for the Philippine context;
  • Bridge and mobilize partners and resources in the Philippines to co-convene Movers Programme activities, mentorship and module design;
  • Travel to facilitate Movers Programme workshops if and when needed;

Partnerships and Resource Mobilization

  • Assist in further developing a robust youth and partnership network in the Philippines;
  • Facilitate workshop/s for the network of partnerships to co-develop a workplan;
  • Draft a workplan for the network of partnerships promoting youth leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship;
  • Actively research for opportunities in the youth and entrepreneurship ecosystem that the Youth Co:Lab team can share to its stakeholders;
  • Community engagement and management with alumni of Youth Co:Lab, including Movers Programme;
  • Assist in documentation and knowledge management of Youth Co:Lab including Movers Programme, such as the maintenance and improvement of the existing directory and its integration in other team directories;

Reporting and Communications

  • Support the communications and advocacy campaigns to encourage more young people to participate, exhibit accountability to stakeholders, and attract potential partners for resource mobilisation;
  • Assist in the preparation of reports (technical and financial) for the Country Office and the Bangkok Regional Hub;

Operations

  • Provide necessary finance, procurement, administrative and logistical support to UNDP Philippines and youth participants in events, including inputs to building the agenda;
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor and the Youth Engagement Officer.
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in communications, linguistics, business management, marketing, international relations or any related field.
Required experience: 12 Months Experience remark:
  • Previous engagement with youth-related work an asset - experience of volunteering/working/interning in youth focused CSO/s or youth empowerment projects;
  • Previous assignment in a similar position would be desirable;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels;
  • Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded.
Language skills:
  • Filipino(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
Area of expertise: Development programme/project administration, Other communications related experience, Resource mobilization, partnership and donor coordination Area of expertise details:
  • Digital and social media skills (i.e. Office 365, video conference applications, Mural/Miro/Trello or similar tools, social media, and basic data analysis, among others).
