BACKGROUND: Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee is a leading, non-sectarian, non-profit organization providing emergency relief, protection, rehabilitation assistance, resettlement services, and advocacy for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict.Domestically, our 26 offices across the U.S. ensure new arrivals have food, shelter, and clothing, and work with refugees to help them gain self-sufficiency.

SCOPE OF WORK: The Interpreter Services Scheduling Assistant supports a program that works with more than 30 contract interpreters to fill the needs of Charlottesville’s and the surrounding area’s limited English proficiency population and public and private agencies for professional interpretation. The position will work with the online scheduling system, Fluency, and will provide administrative support to the program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Attend a volunteer/intern orientation

•Perform review of Fluency schedule for the last-minute appointments and release new appointments into the public folder

•Contact available interpreters to assign appointments

•Respond to urgent customer emails and phone calls, cancel appointments in the system, and follow up with appropriate interpreter and customer as needed

•Assist with monthly court billing including processing court billing forms in writing, hand delivering forms and invoices to the court

•Monitor voicemail/phone calls and direct urgent calls to the program manager in the field for assistance

•Compile data ad prepare newsletter for interpreters and customers

•Record hours and submit completed timesheet for each month via the IRC’s online Volunteer Dashboard

•Complete other projects as assigned
