Under the direction of the Mental Health Program Coordinator, the Mental Health Screening Specialist will be responsible for coordination, facilitation, follow-up resource coordination and data entry for mental health screens of newly arrived refugees resettled by IRC SLC. This individual will work with the MH Program Coordinator to ensure that refugee clients receiving mental health screens receive appropriate support and follow-up in reference to screening outcomes. The Mental Health Screening Specialist will also engage in program improvement and development focused on the screening process, the pathways to care post-screen, and holistic ways to improve mental and emotional wellbeing for clients in distressed in their homes. The MH Specialist will also utilize existing clinical skills to identify the best means of support for screened clients, and support access to treatment.

Primary Responsibilities:

•Coordinate screening with newly arrived refugees between 1-and 12-months post arrival as necessitated and identified by the Mental Health Program, and with individuals identified as needing mental health support.

•Administer the Refugee Health Screener-15 (RHS-15) and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) to newly arrived refugees alongside appropriate interpretation services for identified IRC clients.

•Enter complete screening data into RHOS system that interfaces with the Utah Department of Health on a monthly basis and track screen data regularly with Excel, Box, and the UDOH internal system.

•Communicate follow-up needs and referrals to individual treatment to Mental Health Program Coordinator, and assist with follow-up support for clients identified in need of extra support.

•Support program growth and development associated with screening and pathways to care – create protocols for supportive resources post-screen.

•Work with Health Access and Empowerment to identify ways to include mental health and wellbeing outcomes in holistic health plans for clients.

•Comply with all policies and protocols of the agency.

•Other duties as assigned.
