Overview of position
The department of this position is responsible to provide strategic support for the administrative, 
logistics and technology requirements for all of our client's field missions.
Role objectives
  • Integrate logistics and support plans, deployment timelines and budget requirements for planned or new peacekeeping missions.
  • Develops and implements methodologies and tools to enable effective execution of logistic plans.
  • Formulate specific Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Manages logistics operations.
  • Ensures timely, accountable and cost-effective delivery of peacekeeping cargoes and personnel.
  • Coordinates inputs with regards to supply chain management and service delivery. 
  • Ensures that logistics requirements take account of gender-specific needs.
  • Coordinates uniformed capabilities logistics activities with procurement, finance, human resources, policy and other substantive units.
  • Follows up on legal and financial aspects.
  • Develops and implements DOS logistics support policy, procedures and methodologies to the common benefit of all functional units.
  • Prepares reports on operational logistics issues, linked to uniformed capabilities.
  • Identifies plans and manages special logistics operations with reference to uniformed capabilities.
  • Ensures that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained.
  • Prepares contingency plans and logistics preparedness reviews.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Project reporting
The Logistics Officer reports to the Chief of Section.

Further information
Education
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, public administration, supply chain management, logistics, law or other relevant field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience
  • A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience, in logistics or supply chain management operations or related area is required.
  • Experience in coordinating logistics support operations is required.
  • Experience in coordinating inputs with stakeholders to prepare written reports and communications is required.
