PROJECT BACKGROUND

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is implementing the Ethiopia Migration Programme (EMP), a UK-funded programme to make migration safer and protect would-be migrants and refugees from unsafe irregular migration through and from Ethiopia.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The Case Management Coordinator will be responsible to provide capacity building support to partner organization in providing proper and quality implementation of the case management component particularly family tracing and reunification services for vulnerable migrant and returnee children. She/he will be working closely with the component lead to coordinate protection and capacity building activities and other members of the program delivery unit in planning, designing and implementing capacity building interventions to meet program objectives. She/he will be responsible for effective implementation and proper documentation of all child protection cases. She/he will be seconded at the partner organization working on case management and provide technical oversight to the case management team, and will be the EMP focal point for coordination and collaboration with the partner.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, execute and lead capacity need assessment of the partner organization and identify capacity needs
  • Facilitate and provide trainings and other capacity building measures to case workers and other staffs at the partner organization to effectively conduct family tracing, reunification and post-follow up
  • Facilitate mentoring and coaching of case workers on various topics, as outlined in the capacity building plan
  • Assist staffs at the partner organization in preparation and compilation of reports and other compliance requirements.
  • Keep track record of all relevant data concerning EMP supported case management activities and regularly report to the component lead
  • Ensures that case management practices follow relevant implementation standards and guidelines
  • Ensure staffs at the partner organization understand implementation standards and guidelines and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
  • Ensure regular communication and coordination with the component lead to monitor implementation and continually improve systems
  • Conduct regular capacity assessment and capacity building including coaching and mentoring of case managers at the partner organization to improve on the quality of case management.
  • Support other staffs at the partner organization to ensure referrals to other services such as psychosocial support, mental health and other social services
  • Any other duties as assigned by the CoP & the Component Lead

Experience and Technical Competencies: (include years of experience)

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience on child protection, child rights programming, child protection mechanisms and related areas
  • Experience in delivering psychosocial support, reunification/reintegration, and case management.
  • Proven team building, management and motivation experience
  • Proven coordination and time management skills
  • Proven communication and negotiation skills
  • Develops and encourages new and innovative solutions

Education (include certificates, licenses etc.):

  • Degree in Social Work, Sociology and Social Anthropology, Development Studies, Project Management or other related disciplines

Languages: (indicate fluency level)

  • Excellent verbal and written English.
  • Fluency in Amharic
  • Other local languages a plus
