Protection Technical Coordinator Switzerland

NRC is looking for an experienced and dynamic Protection Technical Coordinator to contribute with protection specific technical competence to the development of global protection strategy and the Plan of Action. The Coordinator will contribute to programme development, adjustment and review and conduct protection specific technical research and document findings and recommendations. In addition, the Protection Technical Coordinator will provide technical input to coordination mechanism (e.g. cluster coordination) and working groups.The position will also contribute to the development of core competencies specific technical indicators and mechanism for M&E and to organisational learning through the provision specific technical analysis, lessons learned and reports.

Other specific responsibilities for this position include:

  • Support the Global Protection Lead to coordinate the IASC Protection Policy review, including liaison with consultants and relevant IASC mechanisms and focal points; and supporting the admin and logistics for travel;
  • Monitoring and advising on grant related activity;
  • Monitoring and reporting on the workplan and specific donor reporting requirements;
  • Supporting knowledge management associated with the Review;

As our ideal candidate, you will have the following:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in humanitarian protection
  • University degree in a relevant topic such as policy, law international relations or other area of studies or equivalent qualification, preferably at master’s degree level
  • Technical expertise in protection in the humanitarian sector
  • Documented skills in report-writing, monitoring & evaluation and donor reporting
  • Proven research, analytical and editing skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of the global humanitarian coordination system and its protection policy and regulatory framework
  • Experience developing and sustaining networks and relationships with people from a range of backgrounds and professional levels.
  • Experience in both humanitarian coordination and protection service delivery would be an advantage
  • Fluency in French, Spanish or Arabic would be an advantage
