The Budgeting and Reporting Department (B&R) oversees the organization's budgeting process, and is responsible for the overall financial aspects of grant management, grant reporting, and financial analysis of the organization's major initiatives. Reporting to a Finance Manager in the B&R Department, a successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the continued development of this department including the processes necessary to ensure the strong financial management of grant funds.

The Grants Administrator will support the development of grant proposal budgets and departmental budgets; assist in the preparation of financial reports on grant activities; maintain grant tracking models and databases; and prepare analyses of grant financial data.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly preliminary and final financial statements for country teams
  • Intercompany reconciliations
  • Analyze monthly variances to budget
  • Assist in the preparation of audits, financial statements and varied fiscal reports
  • Assist in the monthly close process
  • Review accounting documents to ensure accuracy of information and compliance
  • Review monthly cash reports from country teams for accuracy and compliance with accounting principles
  • Reconciliation of monthly bank activity for country teams
  • Preparation of journal entries
  • Review the tabulation, monitoring and distribution of payroll costs to appropriate general ledger accounts
  • Monitor the financial activity on assigned programs and prepares expenditure reports for program managers as needed
  • Prepare and analyze complex financial statements that relate to various fund types and account groups
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Perform other tasks as necessary
Qualifications
  • BS/BA in Business, Finance, Accounting, Operations, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience (prior experience with an international non-profit/NGO is an advantage).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and strong financial analysis and modeling skills.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Dynamic individual with strong leadership, interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as within a team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks while working in a fast-paced, limited-structured environment.
  • Proven customer service orientation and ability to work collaboratively with diverse finance and non-finance groups.
  • Highest ethical standards, a deep sense of collegiality, as well as a strong desire to create positive change on a big scale and to see their work in budgeting and financial reporting as directly linked to, and supportive of, the organization's impact and vision.
