Community-based Protection Officer- Afghan Male Only

Major Responsibilities:

• Build community acceptance through outreach, leading discussions with the community, and regular communication with community leaders.
• Conduct regular field visits to the communities where IRC works
• Support community-based structures (e.g. Shuras or Community-based Protection Committees) in identifying protection risks faced by diverse community members and in developing responses to mitigate these risks
• Provide training and other technical support as requested by community groups
• Ensure that committee membership is inclusive with Age, Gender, Disability & Diversity approach
• Enable CBPCs to build and strengthen community ownership and participatory processes
• Support CBPCs in undertaking community-based protection analysis, service mapping, and referrals
• Support CBPCs in developing community-based protection strategies to address protection risks
• Oversee and guide CBPCS in implementation of quick impact projects in accordance with criteria, including reviewing community proposals, and selection of projects with aim of preventing, reducing or addressing key protection risks and concerns identified by the community.
• Support CBPCs with implementation by undertaking procurement and financial management. Support Monitoring and Evaluation team in measuring the progress and impact of the quick impact projects
• Support CBPCs in undertaking information dissemination in communities on laws, rights, and available services
• Provide inputs for weekly internal reports and any donor reporting as requested by the Sr. Officers and Managers
• Other tasks as requested.

Key Working Relationships:

• Position Reports to Senior Child Protection Officer and Senior Protection Rule of Law Officer
• Position directly supervises:  N/A
• Key working relationships: The CBP Officer will work closely with all officers in the Integrated Protection department.
• Other Internal and/or external contacts: Regular coordination with other humanitarian actors and partners in Afghanistan.
