Position Title: Youth Education Intern
Compensation:

Position term: September 2021-May 2022
Position Hours: 15 hours/week
Background: Since its inception in 1999, the IRC NYC Youth Education
Department has developed partnerships with New York City public schools,
community-based organizations and local colleges and universities to provide
refugee youth with year-round academic support, literacy training, and
enrichment activities. The IRC NYC Youth
Education Department programs provide refugee and immigrant youth with linguistically
supportive, culturally responsive, trauma-informed learning opportunities.
Essential Position Functions:
- Operationalize and monitor recruitment and hiring processes for IRC Youth Tutoring, including:
- Managing promotion of volunteer job description
- Conducting preliminary resume screening
- Tracking application status
- Communicating with IRC Community Partnerships department via professional email correspondence
- Communicating with applicants via professional email correspondence
- Compiling and organizing all applicant files, digitally
- Monitor IRC Youth Tutor case note and SMART Goal completion
- Manage IRC Youth Tutoring and IRC Leaders in Training programmatic data monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and draft final program reports
- Update and create Youth Education department promotional materials, including securing accurate translations
- Planning virtual college tours for the Leaders in Training program
- Other duties as assigned
Learning Objectives: The Youth Education Intern will:
- Learn how to manage a large-scale volunteer hiring process for roughly 20 positions from the initial application stage to finalizing hiring paperwork
- Learn how to manage monitoring and evaluation for complex educational programs
- Learn about the various management responsibilities of interdependent educational programs
- Learn about inter- and intra-departmental coordination processes across IRC in service of youth education programming
