Under the direct supervision of the head of the UNICEF-office in Goma and the technical supervision of the head of external communication and public advocacy at the country office of UNICEF DRC in Kinshasa, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for: Public media work in the Provinces of North-Kivu and Maniema : follow-up requests for information, field visits etc. from international and national media in relation to the situation of children and the responses put in place by UNICEF DRC; work with and empowerment of provincial networks of journalists ; Support public media work in other Provinces of DRC, particularly in the eastern part of the country, following requests of the head of external communication and public advocacy and depending on the approval of the head of the Goma-office ; Produce communication material of the situation of children and the response of UNICEF, in particular human interest stories, photos and short videos, based on the guidance received from the country office in Kinshasa, to be used on national and international digital and other communication platforms ; Coordinate and implement at provincial level in North-Kivu and Maniama the annual work plan developed at country level for external communication and engagement of adolescents Work with the programmes sections in the Goma-office to generate public attention for the programme work implemented by the Goma-office; Support and guide the head of the UNICEF-office in Goma for all public events, at the request of the head of the office: drafting speeches, organizing press attendance, interacting with provincial communication partners, etc. Perform any other duties as requested.

Master’s Degree in communication, Journalism, Public relations or a relevant field

3 years minimum practical professional and international work experience in communication and work within international public media; familiarity with work in emergency situations is an asset.
