SCOPEOFWORK:

The Adult Education Specialist provides educational services for adults to enhance integration. This position isprimarilyresponsibleforadapting,implementing,andmonitoring adult education programs such as EnglishLanguageTraining(ELT) program, Digital Literacy, and Citizenship Preparation program, with a focus on older refugee and immigrant clients. Collaborating with colleagues, they ensure that adult education programs meet donors' requirements, qualitative and quantitative data are collected, and program volunteers aretrained. This position will engage actively with clients and the IRC in Kansas Resettlementteam.Thisisafull-time, non-exemptposition.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·Coordinate the delivery ofadulteducationclasses,includingcoordinationofclassschedules,enrollmentandregistration, pre and post-testing, volunteer training and supervision, curriculum development and instructionalquality.  Instruct a limited number of classes as needed.

·Collaborate with colleagues to design andimplementamonitoringandevaluationframeworkinordertoevaluateprogramsuccessandcreatereplicablemodels forworkingwithadults;

·Ensurecompliancewithallprogramstandardsand grant requirements in accordance with the Reception and Placement, Matching Grant, Intensive CaseManagement,andKansasState OfficeforRefugees(KSOR)programmingrequirements;

·Maintainongoingcommunicationwithcolleaguesonthestatusoftheprograms,clients,andoutcomes,andprovidetimelyreportsonanymanagementandcontractcomplianceissues;

·Proactivelyengagewithcommunityorganizationsinresourcedevelopmentandcommunitypartnershipsthroughgrantwriting,externalstakeholdermeetingsandopportunitiestoimprovepractice;

·Develop additional supports and services for older refugee and immigrant clients to become citizens;

·Participate in the development and writing of grant proposals in support of the work of the IRC Kansas;

·Otherduties asassigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

·Bachelor’sDegreerequired,preferablyinEducationorrelatedfield;

·HoldTESOLcertification formand/oraminimumtwoyearsofexperienceinTESOLinstructioninaclassroomsettingforanadulteducationprogram;

·Minimumtwoyears’experienceinadulteducationprograms,includingpreviousexperience supervisingstaff or volunteers;

·Provenabilitytomeetdeadlinesandmanagemultipleprioritiesinafast-paced environment;

·Demonstratedabilitytocommunicateeffectivelyanddiplomaticallyinamulti-culturalsettingandwithlimited-Englishproficiencyspeakers;

·FluencyinEnglishrequired.Internationalworkorstudyexperienceandsecondlanguageabilitiesaplus;

·ProficientinMicrosoftOfficeapplications(Word,Excel,Outlook,PowerPoint),internetresearch,andexperienceusingdatabasesandinformationgatheringsystems;

·Abletooccasionallyworkaflexibleschedulethatincludeseveningsandweekends;

·Validdriver’slicenseandreliableaccesstoaninsuredvehicle.

·Combinationofworkinginastandardofficeenvironmentandworkinthecommunityincludingmeetingswithcommunity partners.

·Occasionalweekendand/oreveningwork required.
