THE ROLE

Embedded within the Finance & Operations team, the Finance function has responsibility for Financial Control and Accounting, FP&A, Business Partnering and Treasury. One of the core FP&A responsibilities is to lead the organisation wide strategic financial reforecasting process. The financial forecast is presented to the Board for approval semi-annually and confirms the resources available and programme expenditures envelopes Gavi must operate within. This vacancy has responsibility to manage the end-to-end financial forecasting process from planning to Board reporting.
Coordinate the semi-annual forecast process
  • Focus on continuous improvement by agreeing and implementing lessons learned;
  • Align with senior stakeholders on timetable and deliverables;
  • Cascade forecast deliverables and adopt active management approach to ensure organisation delivers against the agreed plan;
  • Leverage deep understanding of financial forecast drivers and organisation strategy, ensure early alignment and resolution of issues and key matters;
  • Detailed review on forecast submissions to identify and where drivers of variances, incongruences, and matters for attention at Executive Office (EO) and MD level;
  • Manage process to obtain Senior Leadership (EO and MD) alignment on forecast key assumptions and endorsement of the financial forecast outcomes;
  • Prepare Board and Audit and Finance Committee materials (papers and slide decks);
  • Lead and mentor a team of 2.
Systems
  • Business lead on transition financial forecast model to SAC, forecasting and analytics platform.
Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Support preparation of the financial results, including driver based variance analysis of results compared with the forecast;
  • Lead on ad-hoc projects consistent with the role.
Note: The essential functions listed in this section are not limited only to the tasks listed and may include other duties as assigned.
  • At least 8 years professional experience in forecasting, financial planning & analysis or decision support;
  • Experience within a dynamic international commercial group or NGO with exposure to non-Finance teams and senior leaders essential;
  • Experience working with large complex processes with key financial and non-financial drivers and outcomes essential;
  • Experience working and analysing large amounts of information (financial and non-financial);
  • People management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Excellent planning, organisation and project management skills;
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity;
  • Ability to link, assess and articulate financial outcomes of operational drivers;
  • Deep analytical skills to analyse, assess and communicate large amount of information;
  • Systems expert - excel and analytical tools (SAC, BW, Power BI);
  • Ability to articulate financial impacts to non-finance audience;
  • Collaboration and working effectively within cross functional teams and indirect reporting lines;
  • Flexibility and champion of change;
  • Confident and resilient.
  • Written and spoken fluency in English.
  • Degree in business, finance or STEM;
  • Accounting and financial qualification preferred.
  • Finance Department – in particular the Financial Planning & Analysis team; Vaccine Forecasting & Grant Operations Team, Finance Director and Managing Director, Finance and Operations;
  • All departments and teams within the Secretariat, in particular the Country Programmes and Vaccine Supply & Demand leadership teams, Strategy and IT Functions;
  • Executive Office.
