Job Overview: The Career Development Coordinator is responsible for program coordination and service delivery for IRC’s Career Development Programs, with the goal of assisting refugee clients to move beyond entry-level jobs and gain employment in their professional field. Specifically, the Career Development Coordinator ensures career counseling, job search assistance, enrollment in post-secondary and certification programs, networking opportunities, and coordinating additional services tailored to individual client needs. Additionally, the position will supervise two Career Development Specialists.

Major Responsibilities:

Outreach and Enrollment

·Oversee outreach campaigns for the recruitment of eligible refugees for career development programs

·Work with IRC R&P, Economic Empowerment, and New Roots staff for potential client referrals

·Oversee and review assessment and enrollment processes used across career development programs

Career Coaching and Technical Assistance

·Carry a small caseload while coaching Career Development Specialists on one-on-one career counseling; this includes service planning, goal setting, resource mapping, supporting job search activities, and referrals to employer contacts

·Implement new and innovative technical assessments to gauge client strengths, weaknesses, and proficiencies

·Recruit skilled volunteers, professional mentors, community members, and employer contacts to train clients through workshops and trainings on topics such as professional speaking, Email correspondence, and interviewing

·Ensure trainings are resulting in job placements for clients through dedicated job development including developing employer relationships, referring applicable clients, and assisting in targeted interview preparation

·Research career industries and local resources to create accessible career pathways for program participants that will reach program outcomes and be applicable to the target population

·Seek out and identify scholarships and other financial support opportunities to help clients enroll in and complete training and recertification programs, networking extensively with partners in the community

·Oversee the documentation of client participation and progress, adhering to grant requirements

Community Partnerships and Grantor Relations

·Collaborate with the IRC Workforce Development team to ensure that clients are receiving the comprehensive services they need to achieve their goals, and ensure that funder-mandated and agency goals are met

·Represent career development programs within the IRC network, in conferences, working groups, communities of practice calls, sharing the creation of client success stories, and other opportunities when available

·Liaise with IRC Economic Empowerment Technical Advisors to ensure effective program delivery by utilizing available resources and best practice models within the IRC field office network

·Create compelling program data visualizations and strong monitoring and evaluation methods

·Work to create new and innovative offerings and opportunities to give clients the upper edge over others in the field

Service Documentation and Performance Tracking

·Use ETO as assigned to track client services, outcomes, and metrics; develop supportive tracking systems for auxiliary information

·Keep track of spending across multiple program areas while adhering to the program budget throughout the project duration

·Track, document, and pursue outcomes as measured by specific program funders. Ensure goals are accessible to the team and are discussed during weekly meetings

·Support in drafting quantitative and qualitative reports as requested by the program funders

Other Responsibilities

·Provide positive supervision of two employees, including daily administration, support, and performance reviews

·Participate in all program meetings, staff development activities, and fully engages as a member of the team

·Comply with all policies, procedures and protocols of the agency

·Other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Education:

·Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred

Work Experience:

·2-5 years’ experience working in employment and workforce programs required.

·1-3 years’ experience with client counseling, case management, or coaching strongly preferred.

·1-3 years’ experience working in or managing grant funded programs.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

·Multi-cultural experience and demonstrated ability to communicate well with people of varied backgrounds required

·Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation creation

·Proven ability to take initiative, creatively problem solve and lead with versatility in a fast-paced work environment

·Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required

·Experience using data and fiscal tracking systems strongly preferred

·Grant writing skills strongly preferred

·Budget management skills strongly preferred

·Strong understanding of the job market in professional sectors in Sacramento

·Flexible availability necessary

Language Skills:

·Proficiency in a refugee language such as Dari, Farsi, Pashto, or Arabic, an asset

Working Environment:Standard office environment
