Description

Launch System Engineer, Ariane 6 Programmes, Flight Programmes, Directorate of Space Transportation.

Duties

The Launch System Engineer will be in charge of the summary of the Ariane 6 Launcher Flightworthiness assessment, as part of providing support to Ariane 6 Launcher System Development (STS-PAD) for the maiden flight and to Ariane 6 Launcher System Exploitation (STS-PAE) for the exploitation flights. The Launcher Flightworthiness assessment contributes to the overall Launch System Flightworthiness assessment, which is under the responsibility of Ariane 6 Launch System Engineering (STS-PX).

 

Your duties will include:

  • Leading the process of assessing launcher flightworthiness under Ariane 6 Programmes (STS-PA) and of technical support;
  • Assessing whether the launcher elements produced for the purpose of a given mission are actually qualified taking into consideration the qualification domain achieved and any existing limitations on use;
  • Assessing Production Technical Events (PTEs) and whether conformance to High-Level Requirements would becalled into question by those PTEs;
  • Identifying topics requiring further investigation and/or independent verification analysis, and managing that further investigation;
  • Interacting with industry to obtain the information necessary for the assessment and sharing with industry the results of the ESA assessment to improve confidence in flightworthiness;
  • Drafting the necessary assessment results document;
  • Representing ESA for the launcher production reviews (e.g. First Article Configuration Review (FACR), Launcher Board);
  • Providing assessment of the Launcher segment to the ESA representative for Launch System Reviews, notably Testworthiness Review, Flight Readiness Review, Launch Readiness Review, Flight Exploitation Review.

You will be part of the Ariane Integrated Project Team (Ariane-IPT). You will interact with the oversight on their respective perimeter, as well as with the embedded team and the Product Assurance Manager. You will interact with STS-PX in bringing the launcher contribution to overall Launch System Flightworthiness.

Education

A master's degree in engineering is required for this post.

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.
