Mission and objectives

UNICEF works in 190 countries and territories to protect the rights of every child. UNICEF has spent 70 years working to improve the lives of children and their families. Defending children's rights throughout their lives requires a global presence, aiming to produce results and understand their effects. UNICEF believes all children have a right to survive, thrive and fulfil their potential – to the benefit of a better world. PPD Tokyo or UNICEF Tokyo Office is part of the Headquarters and works to maintain and further enhance our donor relations with the Government of Japan. The Office also coordinates the organization’s policy dialogue, resource mobilization, advocacy and communication/public information functions with respect to policy makers in Japan. UNICEF Tokyo also seeks to broaden and strengthen partnerships with the Parliamentary League for UNICEF, academia, research institutions, the media, private sector organizations, non-governmental and other civil society organizations, in order to raise the profile of children’s rights on Japan’s development agenda. The office organizes workshops and seminars to promote UNICEF’s policy concerns in development and humanitarian assistance.
