The Private Fundraising and Partnerships Plan sets out the results and strategies that UNICEF will pursue to maximize resources and leverage the influence of the private sector, defined as the general public, civil society, business and private foundations and other social groups that influence decision-makers. The Private Fundraising and Partnerships Plan supports the UNICEF Strategic Plan 2022-2025 and other organizational strategies and frameworks. In implementing this Plan, National Committees, UNICEF country offices and headquarters divisions will work together to expand strategic engagement with the private sector and advocate to advance child rights. Internal Communication and Knowledge Management play as critical role in connecting National Committees, Private Sector Fundraising country offices with the latest strategies, initiatives, campaigns, knowledge products and tools to help them do their work to raise resources, support, and engagement for UNICEF’s universal mandate to protect the rights of every child. Knowledge sharing, and internal communication are supported by tools and mechanisms in our digital workplace to optimize the use and exchange of information, one of the key crosscutting enabling strategies in the Plan.

Communication and Knowledge Management play as critical role in connecting National Committees, Private Sector Fundraising country offices with the latest strategies, initiatives, campaigns, knowledge products and tools to help them do their work to raise resources, support, and engagement for UNICEF’s universal mandate to protect the rights of every child. Knowledge sharing, and internal communication are supported by tools and mechanisms in our digital workplace to optimize the use and exchange of information, one of the key crosscutting enabling strategies in the Plan.

How can you make a difference?

The Intranet / Internal Communication Specialist will provide support to the ongoing development, con-tent management, and socialization of the Private Sector Intranet (PSI) as well as specific internal communication functions to support the Division. Key functions will include:
  • Work with publishers and content owners of the PSI with intranet content management, aligning, when necessary, with UNICEF global channels and connecting with National Committees to en-sure relevant and timely content is published.
  • Work with external vendor and relevant ICT colleagues on technical maintenance and enhancements to improve the functionality and performance of the PSI to meet end client needs.
  • Monitor and analyze PSI performance through usage analytics and user response to content.
  • Support the Knowledge Management Specialist with production of virtual events including micro sites and multimedia content.
  • Provide internal communication support to teams within the Division, including the office of the PFP Director.
MAIN TASKS
Working under the supervision of the Internal Communication Manager and with guidance from the Digital Workplace Specialist, the Intranet/Internal Communication Specialist will have the following responsibilities:
1. Private Sector Intranet (40%)
• Provide guidance to the publishers and content owners of the PSI on intranet best practices, information management, information architecture and site / page creation
• Train and provide technical support and direction to publishers
• Provide support to intranet sites hosted within this ecosystem, including collaboration sites and digital workplace tools
• ‘Help Desk’ function in conjunction with ICTD to answer questions related to using SharePoint for intranet publishing
• Guide content publishers in how to best publish and write content online following PFP’s How to write for the Intranet guidelines
• Gather ongoing analytics and report on key data findings
• Align with global intranet team on latest SharePoint updates and best practices
• Provide support to National Committee seamless integration with UNICEF internal platforms
2. Internal communication support to PFP (40%):
• Provide internal communication support to PFP on initiatives, updates, and leadership decisions to staff within PFP Global
• Support Internal Communication Manager with the internal communication requirements of the PFP Director to PFP Global, including the all staff meeting and internal messages
• Support the Knowledge Management Specialist to communicate and promote internally virtual events, learning and development initiatives and latest resources and products for PFP Global and National Committees
3. Internal communication Global (20%):
• Align with the work of the Internal Communication global team through weekly meetings
• Provide multi-media support on video and audio editing
• Provide support on integration of private sector content to the global intranet, ICON’
DELIVERABLES
Manage the day to day running of the PSI
• Review and monitor content for timeliness and relevance (daily)
• Update PSI homepage with content related to private sector engagement (bi-weekly)
• Provide technical helpdesk support to content publishers (daily)
• Gather ongoing intranet analytics and report on key data findings (monthly)
• Through improved integration more UNICEF National Committees are engaged with the PSI
Work with external vendor and ICTD colleagues on bespoke technical requirements when necessary
• Identify technical gaps and work with external vendor to find bespoke solutions and coordinate with the Digital Workplace Specialist to administer and apply to global channels if necessary (ad-hoc/monthly)
Internal Communication Support to PFP
• Support the publication of the Pulse Newsletter (Monthly)
• Support the production of the PFP All Staff Meeting (Monthly)
• Support the communication of Virtual Skill Share (VSS) learning sessions (Monthly)
Internal Communication support to Global IC
• Attend the Global IC meetings to align with PFP IC activities (weekly)
• Produce 4 to 6 Podcasts during the contract
• Support the global ICON redesign project (weekly)
ESTIMATED DURATION OF THE CONTRACT AND PROPOSAL
Full-time, 11.5 months, tentatively from Feb 2022.
REPORTING TO
The Intranet / Internal Communication Specialist will report primarily to the Internal Communication Manager who will provide overall supervision, direction and guidance.
WORKPLACE
The Intranet / Internal Communication Specialist will be expected to be home-based following Geneva office official work hours.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • First level university degree in relevant subject areas.
  • A minimum of five years of work experience in public or internal communication, or intranet management and publishing is required.
  • Solid experience in Office 365 range of products and SharePoint Online Modern is required.
  • Experience with UNICEF and more particularly UNICEF intranet and ECM collaboration sites would be a strong asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Good writing and editing skills in English is required. Fluency in other official UN languages would be an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with the work of UNICEF, UN entities, UNICEF National Committees and/or private sector fundraising would be an asset.
