The position: The Chief of Party (COP) will manage operations and administration and oversee technical tasks for the USAID Potato Program in Georgia. The COP will be responsible for collaboratively create and implement a strategic programmatic vision and providing overall technicalleadershipandmanagementfortheproject. Thispositionwillbe basedin Tbilisi, Georgia and will reportdirectlyto theGlobal PotatoProgram.Will alsoserve asCountry ManagerforCIP– Georgiaoffice.

Dutiesand Responsibilities:

Chief of Party

● Provides overall technical leadership, management oversight and strategic directionfor thisproject inclose collaborationwiththeGlobal ProgramDirector.

● As the primary liaison with USAID, leads the design and monitor the project implementationby ensuring that is responsive to communities, partners, NGOs, senior governmentofficials, counterparts,andthe donor community andisaligned withCIP and CGIARprinciples,values, andstrategicplan.

1 ● Lead the technical and financial team to ensure a focus on core results, achievement of annual work plan and targets,and timely and effective implementation of activitiesto achieveproject objectives.

● Facilitate the implementation of agri-business value chain activities in all target beneficiariesandparticipateinthe monitoringof progressmade towardsachieving value chainandprojectset goals.

● Present the activities,results, impacts, and outcomes of the value chain at professional, donor, andotherstakeholders’meetingsmeetinghighqualitystandards.

● Monitorstheprogressandpaceof theactivity’simplementation,assuringthatthe full potentialof the activityisrealizedthroughthe promotionof high-qualitywork and internalcontrol.

● Represent the project via donors, private sector and researchpartnersand build strong andproductive partnershipswiththem.

Fundraising & Management

● HeadCIP’s GeorgiaOfficeand liaising withRegional Directorfor AsiaandHeadquartersto assure financialaccountability,contractualnorms,andcommunicationroles. ● Provide timely and effective oversight of the financial position of the country program including identificationandimplementationof requiredchangestomatchfunding levels. ● Maintaineffectiveandcoordinatedbudgetmonitoring processesfor grantfunds. ● Play the role of institutional representationat country level in CAC region with donors, partners,regionalforaandnetworks,programmaticmeetings/institutions,CGIARregional meetings,tosupport projects.

● In coordinationwith the Risk & Security Unit ensure that the security management plan for thecountryprogramisupdatedandadherencebyallstaff toCIPsecurityprotocolsand procedures.

● Maintain safe & healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing standardsand procedures, complyingwithlegalregulations.

● Createaworkatmosphereconducivetoprofessionalgrowthanddevelopmentofexcellent personnel atall levels.

● Promote accountability by conducting staff annual performance reviews with direct supervisees and ensuring that all staff members are effectively using the performance planning andmanagementsystem.

What arewe lookingfor?

● Master’sdegreein Agronomy,BusinessAgriculture,Agribusinessor relatedarea. Astrong backgroundon potatoand/or cropproductioninGeorgiaisrequired.

● 8 years of professional experience at a senior operating role in a global research organizationorbusiness enterprisesinmultiple countriesor equivalent. ● Strongexpertisein implementingandscaling up interventions.

● Experienceworkingon multi-partnerprogramsandwithNationalresearchinstitutions. ● Strong, demonstrable written and oral communication skills in English and the local language(Georgian)

2 ● Demonstrableexperienceoperatinginmainagriculturalregionsin Georgia,particularlyin those werepotatoesplay a majorrole.

● Demonstrableexperienceoperatinginthe Georgianculture
