OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The mission of WHO's Health Emergencies Programme (The Programme) is to build the capacity of Member States to manage health emergency risks and, when national capacities are overwhelmed,to lead and coordinate the international health response to contain outbreaks and to provide effective relief and recovery to affected populations.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Within the framework of the delegated authority, the incumbent is assigned all or part of the following responsibilities:

1) Write or copy-edit several types of reports, including but not limited to: quarterly, semi-annual, annual, and final reports for a large portfolio of donors.

2) Ensure timeliness, quality assurance and adherence to donor specific criteria and/or requirements. This includes gathering of information, consolidation of this, editing, as well as layout and branding of all required reports, which include donor reports, specific thematic reports and consolidated emergency reports. In reviewing the reports ensure compliance with donor conditions, quality of data, fund utilization figures generated from WHO finance system.

3) Draft content is delivered by the program teams withcompilation, editing, and formatting to be done by the Reports Officer.Collaborate with the teams to report on project achievements and capture learning from program implementation.

4) Ensure timely and accurate reporting in line with donor requirements (in terms of style and content) and schedules. Ensure that reports are supplemented by photographs, charts, etc. and follow WHO brand standards.

5) Work with teams across the 3-levels to compile, produce and disseminate high quality mandatory reports, donor briefings, etc. Maintain a coherent system for tracking donor reports due and ensure clearance of reports for timely submission to resource partners.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: First level university degree in Communications, Linguistics, Journalism, Public Administration, International Development or a related field.
Desirable: Experience writing reports forinternational donors, e.g. ECHO, Japan, DFID, USAID.

Experience

Essential: At least two years of experience in donor reporting, grant writing, communications, journalism, or a related field,some of which gained in an international context. Experience in writing and editing, particularly donor proposals and reports, briefing notes, talking points, andin developing messaging for advocacy purposes. Experience in developing log frames, indicators, results-based reporting frameworks etc. Experience working with and/or influencing funding systems, donor organization and decision-makers. Experience in contract negotiations,grant management and administration processes.


Desirable: Experience in the UN system. Experience in relevant fields preferably working for UN Organization, INGO etc.

Skills

Knowledge of political, cultural,and economic context which WHO operates Ability to work independently and coordinate with team members located in various locations Proven ability to synthesize and powerfully convey messages and good knowledge of development and programme issues, especially in the context of health emergencies and WHO's work. Demonstrated experience in drafting reports in English. Skills in designing and preparing attractive layouts will be an added advantage. Proficiency with social media, email marketing platforms, websites, and online analytic tools to disseminate content

REMUNERATION

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 49,254 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 1547 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
