Role objectives

1.Conduct vulnerability assessments of migrants residing in the the organization's shelter. Address protection needs, in coordination with supervisor and lawyer, and refer to competent actors for specialized protection services.

2.Coordinate protection activities with other protection partners, stakeholders and authorities.

3.Understand and report to line manager specific protection needs of people residing in the specific shelter and or urban areas.

Focus on needs of particularly vulnerable groups i.e., victims of trafficking (VoTs) and gender-based violence (GBV) torture and abuse survivorswomen at-risk, children at-risk, older people, single mothers, migrants with disabilities etc. and refer cases for specialized assistance.

4. Follow up on individual cases and ensure quality case management from vulnerability screening to case resolution, with specific attention to vulnerable cases.
5.      Commit to maintaining a comprehensive and updated case file for each case undertaken. Inform and regularly keep beneficiaries updated on the progress of their cases.

6.Ensure that the organization's feedback mechanisms are in place and information is accessible in an inclusive manner to all.

7.Conduct regular mapping of services in- site and off –site and ensure migrant access to services.

8..Collect and share reliable information with migrants about available services locally or nationally and prepare documents, leaflets, and outreach messaging to ensure correct dissemination of information.

9.Ensure confidentiality when handling personal information and data of migrants in full compliance with the organization's standards.

10.In cooperation with the other psychosocial services in the shelter develop individual action plans with migrants.

Key competencies

·Minimum three years of related work experience in migration issues, protection services, or related setting with people in vulnerable situations.

·Experience in liaising with governmental and consular authorities and stakeholders, working in international organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization.

·Demonstrated ability to draft and prepare clear and concise formal correspondence and project reports

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural setting

Further information

·University degree in Social Work, Psychology, Law, Pedagogical studies, or similar from an accredited academic institution with minimum three years of work experience.

·Master’s degree in above fields is an advantage.
