What we do

 

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Purpose of the position (1)

 

The Change Sector Manager reports to the Head of Customer Experience and will be responsible for establishing and running the Change Management practice and team within the Tech & Information division!

 

The successful candidate will ensure that staff and users have the support vital to adapt to changes brought about by projects and programs. They will have validated change-management expertise and certifications, team management experience and good Interpersonal skills.

 

As a member of the Management team, they will be working closely with the other Sector Managers and Head of Unit.

Purpose of the position (2)

 

At the strategic level:

  • Structure the T&I change management service offering (roles deliverables, templates, tools) and strategy (covering all project tiers) in alignment with Enterprise PMO change methodology (PROSCI), Organisation Development teams and the change community within ICRC;
  • Aligning the project change practice with Customer Experience practices and overall value proposition;
  • Establish the change management sourcing strategy looking at both local, nearshore and offshore options for all change management roles.

 

At the operational level:

  • Handling activities of change management and visual production, including management of contracts and relationships with external agencies;
  • Coordinating project change management activities with the business portfolio change managers;
  • Supervising the accurate implementation of the PROSCI methodology, templates and tools;
  • Communicate to the project community on the change management practice and proactively identify projects in need of support.

 

At the project level:

  • Build the ICRC change strategy for projects;
  • Ensuring that the change management services are estimated and adapted to individual project needs, providing a tailored service to suit each project;
  • Estimating and contracting adequate resources (for the most-part external) to cover change material production and delivery.

Main duties and responsibilities

 

  • In charge of the Project Change Practice Management following PROSCI methodology, building a service offering applicable as vital for T&I to support the Tech & Data Board project portfolio;
  • Build a sourcing network for change management activities, working with Purchasing and Vendor Management to build a long-term sourcing strategy of local, near and off shore locations;
  • Establish partnerships within T&I and further with Portfolio Managers and Enterprise PMO to build a shared change management strategy and to adapt change management standards;
  • Maintain a close and active relationship with the business Change Manager network;
  • Support the Customer Experience Unit Value Proposition;
  • Estimate the size of the change management for new Feasibility Studies and new projects with a first priority on the T&I Project Foundation Sector (for key foundation transformation programs such as Cloud Implementation and Cyber Security Transformation).

  • Change Management agencies and suppliers;
  • External development teams.

Education and experience required

 

  • 10-12 years' professional experience;
  • A validated leader with 5 or more years within a Change or Project Manager role;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in change management and/or organizational development, preferably in an international organization/company;
  • PROSCI certification is a must;
  • Accreditation to the Association of Change Management Professionals is an asset;
  • Project Management certification is desired;
  • University degree or equivalent within information sciences.
