Introduction. 

The Green Climate Fund (“GCF”) is a multilateral fund created to make a significant and ambitious contribution to the global efforts towards attaining the goals set by the international community to combat climate change. 
GCF will contribute to the achievement of the ultimate objective of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In the context of sustainable development, GCF will promote the paradigm shift towards low-emission and climate-resilient development pathways by providing support to developing countries to limit or reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to the impacts of climate change, taking into account the needs of those developing countries particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change. GCF is governed by a Board, composed of an equal representation of developed and developing countries. The Fund is operated by an independent Secretariat headed by an Executive Director. 

The Fund seeks to recruit a Gender responsiveness training consultant to carry out the tasks, duties and responsibilities, deliver the set deliverables and provide support to the hiring unit as detailed below. The consultant will join GCF team on  
Remote based. The assignment is for a 3 months-month period. 

 

Role 

 

A consultant who can deliver training to the IRM staff and intern on how to mainstream gender responsiveness into the day-to-day work of the staff, including changing team culture and outlook. This involves training on identifying gender gaps in the current workplace, communicating with colleagues in a gender-responsive manner, dealing with gender-related stereotypes, seeing the intersectionality of gender with other identities, and building a diverse team capable of handling different types of complaints such as through gender-responsive hiring processes.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

The Consultant will be responsible for but not limited to:

 

Prepare and deliver live online training and facilitate a discussion space for IRM staff members covering the following topics:

  •  How to build a gender-responsive team;
  •  How to develop an inclusive gender-responsive workplace strategy that is agreeable to all team members;
  •  How to use gender-responsive language when communicating;
  •  How to overcome unconscious gender-related biases;
  •  How to ensure the IRM team is gender-responsive after the training; and
  • How to assess and prevent the likelihood of gender-based discrimination.

 

Required Experience and Qualifications

  •  Proven track record for delivering gender-responsiveness training to international and multicultural audiences engaged in international development, humanitarian and advocacy work;
  • Proven ability to condense a wide range of resources into concise and accessible material (both spoken and written) for non-expert audiences;
  • Experience in delivering training on diversity, inclusion, equity, non-binary gender identities and LGBTQ+; and
  • Proficiency in English.
