Under the overall guidance of the Resident Representative and direct supervision of the Deputy Resident Representative, the Communications Officer will be responsible for the implementation of the corporate communications strategy, designs, manages and facilitates the implementation of the Country Office and projects communications and publication strategies with a view to influence the development agenda, to promote public and media outreach and to mobilize political and financial support for UNDP. This is a special national Roster for Kuwait CO. will include a list of pre-vetted, highly qualified candidates with strong expertise in the Commuincations and Public Outreach (priority for Kuwaitis) intended to fast-track recruitment processes as positions become available. After a rigorous selection process, successful candidates will be placed in the Roster. Being selected for the Roster does not guarantee a placement. Candidates placed on the Roster will be reviewed when a relevant position becomes available and if found suitable will go through simplified selection and/or review process.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
 
Under the overall guidance of the Resident Representative and direct supervision of the Deputy Resident Representative, the Commuincations Officer will be responsible for the following functions:  Planning and design of internal and external strategies for communications and outreach  Elaboration and implementation of the CO publications strategy and plan  Content creation and maintenance of the CO website and intranet in coordination with the programme unit;  Supports the business development  Facilitation of knowledge building and management
 
Institutional Arrangement

Required Skills and Experience
 
Education:

Master’s Degree in Business Administration, International Relations, Media and Communications, Social Science , or any relevant field or bachelor’s degree with additional 2 years of relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of Master’s.

Experience:

2  years of of relevant experience at the national or international level in providing management advisory services, hands-on experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of development projects and establishing inter-relationships among international organization and national governments. An additional 2 years are required for bachelor’s degree holders. • Proven experience, working in close partnership with and establishing strong relationships with a broad base of stakeholder, with a special emphasis on Government partners. • Previous experience working with UNDP/UN or International NGOs would be an asset. • Proven ability to use computers and office software packages, and experience in handling web-based management systems

Travel:

Travel costs will be covered in accordance with UNDP rules and regulation for official travel.
