Internship: Human Resources Communication (People & Culture) (Hybrid)

UNICEF Supply Division, Copenhagen

Tentative start date: As soon as possible. The internship is on a full-time basis, preferably.

Preferred duration: 3-6 months, ideally starting in June

Salary/Payment: The internship is paid in accordance with the UNICEF policy on the Internship Program.

UNICEF's supply and logistics headquarters - Supply Division - is located in Copenhagen, which is also home to the largest humanitarian warehouse in the world. About a half of the 1000 colleagues are housed in Supply Division, Copenhagen with areas of expertise including logistics, procurement, warehouse management, product innovation, market insights, finance, pharma, nutrition, vaccines, cold chain and health technologies and engineering.

Engaging a highly dynamic and skilled workforce that is driving some of the most cutting-edge work in the sector, the Supply Division’s People strategy aims to create an enabling environment that nurtures talents, fosters growth and promotes excellence in vision and action to deliver results for Children around the world. The HR Centre at Supply Division is a strong Business Partner in this endeavor and works towards providing a robust HR Framework that aligns with the People Strategy.

The Intern will support the HR Centre’s efforts in strengthening the impact of the HR Reform & organizational Culture Change Initiatives by providing key support in Job & Staffing Needs Analysis, HR Communication, digital outreach, staff engagement as well as Research & Information sharing on Current HR Trends & Best Practices in the Humanitarian- Development sector as well as private sector.

How can you make a difference?

In agreement with the supervisor(s), the intern will provide assistance in:

 Digital Communication for Performance Management & Organizational Culture initiatives

  1. Supports in roll out of key HR communication and staff exchange events through internal communication platforms including SharePoint, yammer and MS teams Groups.
  2. Supports development and publishing of relevant content in HR platforms (newsletter, SharePoint, Yammer group discussions/polls).
  3. Supports in development of communication materials, presentations and session modules in roll out of Performance and Culture Change Initiatives.
  4. Carrying out of periodic pulse surveys, presenting initial findings and analysis

HR Knowledge Sharing

  1. Undertakes periodic pieces of research on trends and best practices in HR thematic areas and shares with the HRC.
  2. Participates in relevant internal /external forums as assigned.

Diversity & Inclusion

  1. Participates and engages actively in the Young UNICEF initiative at SD. Supports HR team in creating avenues of dialogue and consultations with Young UNICEF in Key HR initiatives.
  2. Participate with other HRC team members in focus and task groups looking into applying diversity lens in HR framework and other Organizational Initiatives.

Expected Deliverables:

  • Familiarization with People & culture Strategic Pillar of Supply Division.
  • Roll-out of Communication pieces for HR particularly in the areas of Performance Management as well as organization Culture
  • Knowledge sharing in themes identified under Organization Culture Pillar (for eg. Bias, creating inclusive work environment, hybrid working environment)

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Education:

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate or Ph.D. degree program or have graduated within the past two years, in Behavioral Sciences, Human Resources, Communications or general organizational management.
  • Have strong academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records or, if not available, a reference letter from an academic supervisor.

 

Your skills:

  • Fluent in English (required). Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with using survey tools and basic data analysis
  • Research projects while studying and any other relevant work experience is an asset

Additional information:

Age: Interns must be at least 18 years

Family relations: Interns must have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office.

 

Visa: Should it be relevant at some point during the internship to travel to the duty station, UNICEF is not responsible for obtaining any visas for internships. However, UNICEF can provide a Note Verbale to respective Consulates, to support the application of Visas. Also, in the scenario that the intern is already in the country of the duty station and have been granted a different work permit modality, any extension cannot be dependent on an internship with UNICEF.

Insurance: The selected candidate must provide proof of health/accident insurance plan that covers them in the country of the assignment and for the entire duration of the assignment.  

Interns are covered for any service-incurred injury/illness.

Employment: There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship.

Onboarding: The intern will be required to provide confirmation of strong academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records or, if not available, a reference letter from an academic supervisor, a copy of health insurance coverage and to fill out the relevant UNICEF forms on conditions before taking up service as an intern.
