Head of Programmes*

in Harare 

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of two years. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Harare, Zimbabwe.

As Head of Programmes, you will develop and manage the impact oriented Welthungerhilfe country programme in Zimbabwe with a strong committment to the Core Humanitarian Standards and compliance to internal and external regulations. You will develop agribusiness approaches in coorperation with Heads of Project, as well as new initiatives and opportunities for ICT4D (Apps for agricultural learning and child growth monitoring).

Your responsibilities

  • Programme development and development of new funding proposals in the areas of agribusiness and ICT4D
  • Oversee project implementation, ensuring impact of the country programme and on time reporting
  • Maintain and develop organizational learning and accountability, and respective systems and frameworks
  • Identify co-financing opportunities and negotiate with donors
  • Build and maintain good relationships with existing and potential consortium partners

Your profile

  • A university or polytechnic degree in agriculture or an equivalent degree related to the position
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience managing multi-donor programs, preferably in the area of agriculture, rural development or agribusiness
  • Good knowledge of planning and survey methods (MEAL)
  • Proven reporting and organizational skills, especially with donors active in Zimbabwe (BMZ, EU, ECHO, USAID, WFP and UNICEF)
  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for traveling to Welthungerhilfe's project countries
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills
