Regional Human Resources and Organizational Development Director

(F/M)

Location: Dakar - SENEGAL       

 

Mission:

The Human Resources & Organization Development Director drives GSC support and development in the areas of HROD in order to support the achievement of organizational goals.

The Human Resources & Organization Development Director supervises close work with Member Associations (MAs) to build their capacity and to support the implementation of HR and OD strategic objectives and international policies in the MA. He / she leads the HROD network in the region and works towards a flawless roll-out and execution of global policies, processes and projects and their translation into regional requirements where necessary.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Drive, implement and monitor implementation of HR strategy, HR policies, and guidelines in regional office and Mas
  • Ensure roll-out and monitoring of SOS compensation system in Regional Offices (ROs) and MAs
  • Drive strategic workforce planning in MAs and in the region
  • Support the International Director, Region with expertise, consultancy and controlling in the areas of HROD and organization development in MAs and GSC offices
  • Responsible for supporting MAs to meet international HRD quality standards & guidelines Responsible for leading, developing, and supporting the regional HROD network consisting of national, regional HROD co-workers, supporting cross-national knowledge sharing, steering regional and national developments and ensuring capacity building of co-workers in HR & OD
  • Ensure training programs are put in place for co-workers in MAs
  • Recruit regional management in line with management team approved process
  • Implement performance management and recruiting standards in regions and MAs and monitor implementation
  • Drive and implement people and cultural change agenda in regions and MAs
  • Adapt international HR concepts to local needs and implement support actions where needed
  • Support Regional Director and SOS Children´s Villages International Representative (CVI Representative) in the development of good governance implementation in MAs and contribute to develop them further
  • Drive implementation of good management and accountability standards in MAs and CVI units
  • Support the establishment of national legal entities and the registration and change of national statutes
  • Ensure monitoring of local legal compliance and recommend actions to National Directors / Boards
  • Ensure regular HR reporting and maintenance of data for regional needs
  • Ensure HR administration in the Regional Office
  • Consult and build capacity in regional office and MAs
  • Ensure effective running of internal communication in regional office / MAs, ensuring SOS Brand is considered and strongly linked to strategy
  • Lead the team of co-workers in the function in the region, managing the performance and ensuring development of direct reports

Requirements:

  • Master in Human Resources Management/Law/Social Science or any relevant degree in relation with the position
  • 10 years of HR/OD Management experience in a leadership position in an international setting and degree level education in a relevant subject
  • Fluency both in oral and written communication in French and in English
  • Ability to build strong relationships/networks and to work and cooperate effectively
  • Virtual management skills and knowledge of collaboration tools
  • Proven implementation skills and a can-do approach
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Experience in change management processes
  • Flexibility for travelling required (approx. 100 days/year, including in unsecured remote areas.)
