Vi Agroforestry were founded by the Swedish cooperative movement with the overall objective to work in the principles of non-discrimination, meaningful participation, accountability, transparency, empowerment and continues learning. Vi Agroforestry work for a world free from poverty and injustice and we know from experience that people are stronger together.  

For a long time Vi Agroforestry and We Effect have shared resources for areas a management support and fundraising. As per February 2023 Vi Agroforestry will work as an indivudal organiation with its own staff and resources. New and revised Vi Agroforestry will consist of 14 employees in Stockholm and around 30 employees in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda).

The purpose of this position is to support the organization to reach the overall objective of Vi Agroforestry through fundraising from private donors and major and corporate donors to an agreed annual target. The role requires close cooperation with other departments globally.   

As Director of Fundraising you will have three employees reporting to you (fundraising officer, Strategic relations/Major Donations Officer​, Donor Service) and you will manage fundraising processes with the participation from two Communication Officers (reporting to the Director of Managmenet Support) with responsibiltiy for Social Media, Webb and Campaigns.

The Director of Fundraising will report to the Secretary General and be a member of the Management group. 

Main responsibilities 

  • Lead the strategic work around fundraising within the global organisation, including follow-up of the funding strategy. 

  • Strategically responsible for the department’s thematical expertise.  

  • Ensure thematic support to the global organisation and external counterparts.  

  • Strategically responsible for the organisation’s strengthened capacity.  

  • Responsible for development and implementation of the department’s budget, work plan, and for staff at the department.  

  • Responsible to provide active leadership in line with the values of the organisations. 

  • Responsible to ensure a healthy work environment at the workplace.  

  • Responsible to ensure that all department staff adhere to the Code of Conduct and actively work with anti-corruption. 

  • Participate actively in the Management Group and contribute to strategic development of the organisation. Share responsibility in delivering the organisation’s strategy and vison.  

  • Represent the organisation externally to build strong relationships and networks relevant for the organisation.  

  • Ensure and promote a rights-based approach in all work that we do. 

  • Contribute to effective cooperation between staff in the global organisation.  

  • Contribute to a healthy work environment at the workplace. 

  • Upon request from the manager fulfil other tasks at the department when required. 

Required qualifications 

  • Relevant degree at university level or equivalent knowledge required in other ways. 

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in leadership.

  • Strong knowledge and experience of work within the fundraising area.  

  • Strong communication skills in Swedish and English, both written and spoken

This role will be placed in Stockholm, Sweden, which requires that you have a work permit in Sweden.
