Africa Regional Office: Communication and Administration Intern

 

The Global Green Growth Institute internship program (also called "Grow Green" Program) provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. The program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to GGGI’s operations. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Institute and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. REGIONAL OFFICE FOR AFRICA

GGGI established a Regional Office for Africa, located in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. The Regional Office manages and coordinates GGGI’s current activities in Africa region, serving to engage with Africa regional organizations, developing new regional activities, developing, and managing engagements with countries interested to join GGGI. The Office also supports the engagement of GGGI member and partner countries with the Green Climate Fund. The Africa Regional Office will be led by GGGI’s Director for Africa.

Part 1: Communication and knowledge sharing

The intern will be responsible for assisting the Regional Office Team in various tasks.

The intern will hold the following responsibilities:

  • Support on digital communication channels: social media, GGGI internal communication of project milestone, field missions, mails etc.
  • Support on public relations communication: events, invitations, and information dissemination.
  • Assist in the preparation of events taking place during the internship period, specifically knowledge sharing events.
  • Support in writing and editing communications materials.
  • Support on the translation of communications materials and other related materials, when necessary, from English to French and vice versa.
  • Support in the development of audiovisual materials.
  • Assist in developing regular media monitoring reports.
  • Support in editing and co-drafting minutes of meetings, and other memos.
  • Help with the content development.
  • Any other related tasks to support the Communications.  

 

Part 2: Supporting on logistic and assistance.

The position will assist the Africa Regional’s Office, on local logistic and assistance task including:

  • Process incoming and outgoing mails and documentation.
  • Maintain correspondence register and distribution as appropriate.
  • Support on logistics services regarding the administrative operations of the Africa Bureau.
  • Support the day-to day activities of the work office.

 

Finally, the successful candidate will develop the skills and knowledge base to progress towards gaining independent assignments. He or she must work well within a team centered environment while being self-reliant. The successful candidate will be able to think critically and effectively communicate creative recommendations, both orally and in writing. The successful candidate must be able to multi-task effectively and be comfortable making recommendations with limited information.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master's Degree in Communication, management & business administration, or related field.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Exhibit a desire to learn new skills through training.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate.
  • Professional, motivated, and coachable.
  • Ability to analyze reports and requirements to effectively communicate concepts and proposed solutions.
  • Fluent both in French and English is mandatory.
  • Experience in digital communication is a plus.
  • Minimum of 6 months of professional level training and experience in communication will be appreciated.
  • Evidence of the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at various levels of a complex organization both orally and in writing.
  • Evidence of the ability to handle multiple complex assignments simultaneously under aggressive deadlines.
