Context

The UNV will become a key member of UNDP’s exciting and result-driven programme in Grenada working in the thematic areas of Climate Change, Climate Resilient Agriculture, Biodiversity Conservation and the Environment. The UNV will work as part of a multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary team of development professionals, working on the GEF/ UNDP Climate Resilient Agriculture for Integrated Landscapes Management Project is helping to provide much-needed enhancements to propagation services in Grenada. The project objective is to operationalize integrated agroecosystem management through mainstreaming biodiversity conservation in production landscapes and increasing the resilience of agricultural systems. This will be achieved through the following four interrelated outcomes: a) Outcome 1: Systemic and institutional capacity for integrated landscape management at the national level; b) Outcome 2: National capacity to provide financial, technical, and information services for CSA production; c) Outcome 3: Operationalization of resilient agricultural practices; and d) Outcome 4: Knowledge management for SLM, CSA, and biodiversity conservation.

Task description

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Cluster Head, Sustainable Solutions, Energy and Climate Change or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Project Officer will: • Support Project Management Units in developing timely and thoughtful annual work plans Support PMUs in undertaking annual/quarterly procurement planning • Support PMUs in tracking project results and impacts through project progress reporting Provide technical and administrative support for project implementation • Produce/maintain knowledge products (including online portals) and/or presentations on climate change, environment and energy for UNDP and inter-agency forums. • Participate in inter-agency meetings on joint programming • Support/conduct regional capacity building initiatives on issues related to environment in sustainable development and resilience • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor. Support the Project Management Team in resource mobilization activities, including through exploring innovative financing modalities for project funding. Results/expected outputs: As an active UNDP team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to UNDP Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean Multi-Country Office (MCO) and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including: • Providing key inputs for ongoing project activities and devising reports on the status and direction of the programme • The development of capacity through coaching, mentoring and formal on-the-job training, when working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-) governmental counter-parts, including Implementing Partners (IPs); • Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment. • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed
