The Business Process Analyst reports to the Head of Business Continuity. 

 

What we do

 

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Purpose of the position

 

The business continuity team seeks to support the organization in protecting its mission, critical activities and processes in the face of severe disruptions caused by external events.

Under the Head of Business Continuity, the Business Process Analyst provides daily guidance and support to metiers to plan, design, implement and monitor their business continuity activities. In particular, the analyst contributes in carrying out business impact assessments, designs and updates the business continuity plans, carries out exercises and tests, as well as awareness sessions at headquarters and the two shared service centers located in Manila and Belgrade.

 

Main duties and responsibilities

 

  • Supports métiers at the headquarter and the global shared service centers in identifying their critical activities
  • Organizes working sessions to analyze the impact that a possible disruption could have on critical activities
  • Supports the development of business continuity and recovery plans for critical assets and services
  • Organizes and assists exercises and tests for business continuity and recovery plans 
  • Assist in the development of the incident management plans
  • Conducts awareness campaigns to favour change management and appropriation of business continuity work
  • Continuously updates the business continuity platform with the information necessary to maintain the organization's business continuity preparedness level
  • Assists in the development and update of business continuity procedures and documents

Relationships

 

Interacts with users, business process owners and heads of programmes at the headquarter and global shared services. Coordinates and works in continuous exchange with the business continuity focal points at the level of divisions and shared service centers.

Certifications / Education required

 

  • University degree or equivalent.
  • Excellent command of English. Knowledge of French is an asset.
  • Computer proficiency.

Experience required

 

  • Typically, 6 years of professional experience, including minimum 3 years in Crisis Management and/or Business Continuity.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and exposure of a wide range of security, humanitarian assistance, emergency relief and protection issues.
  • Ability to understand new business processes and their interplay with software and organisational structure
  • Ability to interact effectively with data users, managers and other stakeholders
  • Knowledge of the ICRC’s mandate, policies and operational procedures an asset.
  • Knowledge of ICRC’s information management systems an asset
