ACAPS is looking for a dynamic Information Management and Data Security Coordinator to help the organisation develop its information and data management strategy!

Purpose of the position 

Develop, implement and continually review and refine ACAPS’ information governance, including its information and data management strategy, policy and processes to promote good practice and maintain compliance with humanitarian standards and data security. Ensure best practice is implemented within ACAPS with regards to the acquisition, management and organization of information.

Role and responsibilities

  • Complement, develop and implement an ACAPS Information Management (IM) strategy, including data security policy
    • Develop and implement plans for data security and handling of sensitive data, ensuring they are applied consistently in the organization
    • Identify possible data security threats
    • Handle the current established IM internal processes
  • Keep abreast of legislative changes which may impact ACAPS and amend information management practices as required, e.g., GDRP regulations
  • Keep up to date with general NRC and humanitarian donors data policies and ensure that ACAPS is compliant
  • Develop and maintain appropriate retention and disposal schedules for electronic content
  • Provide advice on information management issues and promote best information management practice, including humanitarian data sharing protocols and data security policy
  • Make sound decisions about which systems and procedures to implement
  • Ensure information management processes are kept up to date and reviewed regularly to ensure they are fit for purpose under latest Information Management Strategy
  • Liaise with the teams and conduct information audits to ensure assets and platforms used by ACAPS are safeguarded and the appropriate controls applied
  • Support the procurement of information technology systems and applications
  • Advise on information risk
  • Extract, classify, structure and store relevant ACAPS knowledge
  • Train other members of the organization to be familiar with the best practices for data security and handling of sensitive data

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field like information technology, computer science, cybersecurity or IT business management.
  • Knowledge and experience with database management, online data repositories and content management systems (such as Airtable)
  • Experience developing information management policies and standards for Microsoft enterprise solutions for medium business level (150-300 employees)
  • At least 3-years’ experience in a similar position
  • Knowledge of humanitarian sector and related data policies is an asset
  • Proficiency in English

ACAPS main office is based in Geneva. The post holder will have an NRC Germany contract, but daily work and management will be under ACAPS.
