ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian Nationals for the position of Senior Officer - Agricultural Engineer. The position is based at ICRISAT Patancheru, Telangana.

The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) is a non-profit, non- political organization that conducts agricultural research for development in the drylands of Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. Covering 6.5 million square kilometres of land in 55 countries, the semi-arid or dryland tropics is home to over 2 billion people, and 644 million of these are the poorest of the poor.

ICRISAT and its partners help empower these poor people to overcome poverty, hunger and a degraded environment through better agriculture. Job Responsibilities :

Planning, executing and supervising the activities of Tillage, Harvest & Post-harvest operations in an agricultural research farm/ station.
Establishing a culture of continuous improvement of experimental stations and farm practices by increased mechanization of operations.
Implementing procedures and practices towards improved farm management and to maintain soil health.
Organize orientation, training & skill-development activities on Farm Operations, Maintenance & Safety.
Managing and supervising the overall management of precision farming, examining crops, discussing problem and coordinating with Research staff to perform different activities during the crop cycle.
Supervising the farm operation team for carrying out seedbed preparation, fertilization, planting, inter-culture operations, harvesting, threshing, drying etc.
Upgrading farm implements by involving in secondary engineering activities i.e., adjustments, improvements, and modifications of machinery to fulfill the research requirement.
Scheduling and ensuring timely maintenance of machinery/equipment and seasonal calibration of implements.
Ensure compliance to safety and environmental regulations

Qualification and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering or related field.
A minimum 7 years of relevant experience in farm machinery/mechanized farm operations.
Hands-on/ practical understanding of agricultural farm machinery, operations and farm management.
High proficiency in computer skills (MS-Office) and communication skill in English (both written and oral).
Ability to prioritize and organize work efficiently and independently.
