Mission and objectives

GLOWA fights against human trafficking and the damage it creates in our communities throughout the Northwest region of Cameroon through community education to prevent trafficking, support for victims, and advocacy on their behalf. Through these works, GLOWA aims to nurture a culture of respect for human rights, particularly those of children and women, in the region and fight against the systematic abuses faced by the most vulnerable.

Context

Our region in Cameroon has been experiencing an armed conflict since 2017. The conflict has negatively affected lives with more than 70% of schools closed and thousands of children put out of school. Hundreds of villages and homes have been raised by flames. The result has been an increased vulnerability of children especially young girls to trafficking and exploitation in the sexual and domestic services sectors. The Norwegian Refugee Council has classified the conflict as the most neglected in the world for the third year running. GLOWA is presently engaged in the development of modules and tools to help in the provision of vocational training to rescued victims of child trafficking and other vulnerable young people especially in the restive North West Region of Cameroon

Task description

GLOWA is a counter trafficking organization that provides rehabilitation services to rescued victims, survivors and vulnerable potential victims. Our target group demands special attention and care to fully recover. As such we are developing a customized vocational training package for people who have suffered abuses such as our program participants. GLOWA is seeking the help of an online volunteer to oversee the process of developing modules and tools that can meet the needs of children and women coming out of slavery.
