The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank whose mission is financing the Infrastructure for Tomorrow—infrastructure with sustainability at its core. We began operations in Beijing in January 2016 and have since grown to 106 approved members worldwide. We are capitalized up to USD100 billion and Triple-A-rated by the major international credit rating agencies. Working with partners, AIIB meets clients’ needs by unlocking new capital and investing in infrastructure that is green, technology-enabled and promotes regional connectivity.
The Implementation Monitoring Department (IMD) is responsible for monitoring AIIB’s rapidly growing investment portfolio, which includes loans and equity investments with or without sovereign guarantees and assisting management and project teams to ensure portfolio quality.
IMD’s main functions include: (1) monitoring the entire Investment Operations portfolio and provides portfolio reports and data analytics; (2) managing the nonsovereign-backed financing (NSBF) assets that have been transferred to IMD; (3) coordinating the design and implementation of IT systems for Investment Operations (IO); and (4) providing Secretariat services to the Investment Committee.
To strengthen its portfolio management capabilities, IMD is recruiting a Portfolio Management Associate (PMA) for IMD’s Middle Office (IMD-MO) function. The IMD-MO function is headed by a Portfolio Management Officer (PMO) who is supported by a team of highly motivated professionals. It is aimed to efficiently provide administrative, technical, and para-legal support to client-facing PMOs and simultaneously provide outstanding service delivery to the Bank’s clients.
The main responsibility of the PMA will be to support and assist the Head of IMD-MO and other PMOs who are directly managing loans and/or equity/bond investments in actively monitoring and managing the investment portfolio to ensure that AIIB’s strategic objectives in terms of development impact and financial sustainability are met.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support the Head of IMD-MO to establish and maintain Middle Office procedures and practices that enhance service standards, create efficiencies, and reduce operational risks.
- Ensure adherence by clients to the contractual obligations under the finance documents, particularly the timely submission of reportorial requirements.
- Ensure timely processing of utilization requests and verification of compliance with various disbursement conditions.
- Work closely with other internal stakeholders to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the database of project-related data and documentation for management information.
- Participate in the planning of various initiatives designed to facilitate IMD’s interaction with other units and in the development of systems and procedures to facilitate the credit administration process.
- Support the Head of IMD-MO in liaising with other Bank departments as necessary.
- Assist in the documentation of lessons learned and operational insights and the feedback to Investment Operations and Portfolio Management teams to improve the Bank’s operations and systems continuously.
- Carry out other duties that may be assigned by the IMD.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant working experience in monitoring of project implementation for infrastructure investment operations.
- Basic knowledge of major infrastructure sectors, such as energy, transport, water, and/or urban development.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills in English with demonstrated ability to think strategically and synthesize complex issues (translated into effective oral and written briefs) and ability to comprehend complex project contracts.
- Ability to collaborate with other team members and contribute productively to the team's work and output, demonstrating respect for different points of view.
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree (such as economics, finance, business administration, international relations, social sciences or similar field relevant to AIIB’s operations).
AIIB is committed to diversity, transparency and inclusion. We believe our strength comes from having a team with the right diverse skills, experiences and abilities selected through a merit-based competitive process. We actively encourage applications from people from both within and outside AIIB members, regardless of nationality, religion, gender, race, disability or sexual orientation.
Join in AIIB’s mission to promote sustainable infrastructure investments and to improve social and economic outcomes in Asia and beyond.
Previous experience and qualifications will determine the grade and job title at which successful applicants will enter AIIB.
