In line with UNICEF’s CCC and its mandate as Nutrition Sector lead in Syria (within the Government of Syria controlled areas), UNICEF has specific responsibilities to ensure continued effective Nutrition sector coordination to the Nutrition humanitarian response. Considering the scale of the Nutrition humanitarian response, further complicated by the recent earthquake, it is of upmost importance to ensure that UNICEF, Government and partners response is properly coordinated.

In line with UNICEF’s CCC and its mandate as Nutrition Sector lead in Syria (within the Government of Syria controlled areas), UNICEF has specific responsibilities to ensure continued effective Nutrition sector coordination to the Nutrition humanitarian response. Considering the scale of the Nutrition humanitarian response, further complicated by the recent earthquake, it is of upmost importance to ensure that UNICEF, Government and partners response is properly coordinated.
- Support reinforcement of the sub national level sector information management capacity (including but not limited to service mapping specifically for earthquake response interventions, review and refining of existing mapping tools and formats).
- Support the National Nutrition Sector coordinator on operationalization of the National Sector Coordination ToR at the sub national level.
- Work with Sub- national sector participants to identify response gaps at sub-national levels and propose ways to bridge those gaps.
- Support the development of sub national support plan for the operationalization of Accountability to Affected Persons, integration of the GBV risk mitigation measures in Nutrition sub-national sector and behavior change communication of the sub national Nutrition sector response.
- Coordinate the planning and implementation of emergency humanitarian Nutrition sector interventions.
- Manage an inventory of relevant documents on the humanitarian situation.
- Respond to the Sub-national sector participants’ needs for information.
- Contribute to the core cluster functions.
- Facilitate session (s) to sub – national sector partners on Humanitarian nutrition coordination1
- Lead on the preparation of SitRep inputs with emphasis on Sub-national sector plans, targets and achievements.
- Support the development and analysis of sub national needs assessment and monitoring programmes.
- Lead on the preparation of SitRep inputs with emphasis on Sub-national sector plans, targets and achievements. Work closely with Tartous Field Office Health and Nutrition officer on agreed identified tasks related to programs, under the supervision of the Chief Field Office of Tartous and the National Nutrition Sector Coordinator.

University degree in nutrition, public health, or another related field.

Be from or have worked for at least a year in Latakia. Experience working with government agencies, local authorities, international organizations, NGOs and communities in the field of nutrition, public health, health promotion including community nutrition, as well as having an emergency nutrition sector coordination is an asset.

A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience is required.

Fluency in English (verbal and written). Good written and spoken skills in Arabic is desirable.

Strong facilitation and coordination skills, including participatory group discussion.

Strong communication, advocacy and negotiation skills.

Familiarity with UNICEF CCC’s.
