How can you make a difference? 

UNICEF is implementing its 2021-2025 Country Programme Document (CPD) that has a key result area and outputs on “Adolescents”, supporting their development, participation and engagement.
As a UNICEF ADAP Intern you will work on social entrepreneurship and digital skills programmes for adolescents and youth to develop their creativity, and participation and help them design solutions addressing challenges that they and their communities face. Together with partners, you will support young people to develop ideas and solutions to respond to modern-day challenges in their communities and increase their employability capacity.
You will also contribute to UNICEF’s program on adolescent and youth engagement in fighting against climate change and environmental degradation.
You’ll get to present your ideas and outputs. You'll also receive mentoring and career advice from ADAP unit and select other programme team members. Equally importantly, have a fun and inspiring internship experience in one of UNICEF’s most challenging country programmes and contribute towards its CPD implementation.
Together with ADAP team members and partners, you will
  • Support the implementation of youth social innovation and entrepreneurship programs (UPSHIFT, GenU Youth Challenge).
  • Support the youth engagement in climate action
  • Compile, draft and co-produce a monthly programme newsletter and other relevant communications materials promoting the work of the ADAP unit within UNICEF.
  • Join internal programme conversations (webinars, thematic working groups) and meetings.
  • Join relevant external meetings, conferences and events within Turkiye

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree programme in the field of social sciences (e.g., business administration, sociology, international relations, political science, education etc.) or have graduated within the past two years. 
  • Fluency in Turkish and English
  • Previous volunteer experience in adolescent and youth development and engagement programs
  • Familiar with ‘Human Centered Design’ concept, entrepreneurial ecosystems, technology and incubator approaches for youth innovations
  • Familiar with youth engagement in climate change and environmental action
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • To have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.

Duty Station: Ankara 

Supervisor: ADAP Programme Officer

Duration: 26 weeks

Stipend: In accordance with UNICEF's guidelines, interns will be paid a nominal stipend per month. There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship. 

Insurance: UNICEF will not be responsible for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the intern's service, whether on or off UNICEF premises. Therefore, the selected candidate must provide proof of enrolment in a health/accident plan prior to start his/her work. If accepted, the intern will be required to provide a copy of health insurance coverage and to fill out the relevant UNICEF forms on conditions regarding service as an intern.
