CABEI - Central American Bank for Economic Integration

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) is a multilateral financial development institution whose purpose is to promote economic integration and the balanced economic and social development of the Central American region, which includes the founding countries and non-founding regional countries, attending to and aligning itself with the interests of all members.

CABEI emerged in 1960 as the financial arm of Central American integration and development, being a SuiGeneris organization both for the breadth of fields in which it has competence or can develop in itsoperations, as well as for its purpose and founding principles. From that date until then, CABEI has been managed by visionary individuals whose leadership has made the purposes for which CABEI was created areality.

 

CABEI has 15 member countries:

• Founding countries: Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.• Non-founding regional countries: Panama, Dominican Republic, and Belize.• Non-regional countries: Mexico, Republic of China (Taiwan), Republic of Argentina, Colombia,  Kingdom of Spain, Cuba, and Republic of Korea.

CABEI is headquartered in Tegucigalpa, Honduras with country regional offices in Guatemala, El Salvador,Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Dominican Republic, Republic of China (Taiwan), Republic of Korea,Republic of Argentina, and the Kingdom of Spain.
