Introduction

The ILO is seeking a Director of the Human Resources Development Department at the D2 level. The position is based in Geneva and is a Fixed-Term Appointment (FTA). Specific duties

The Director of the Human Resources Development Department will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Developing and implementing a human resources strategy that aligns with the ILO's strategic objectives
  • Managing the department's budget and resources effectively
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures related to recruitment, retention, and staff development
  • Ensuring that the ILO is a diverse and inclusive workplace that promotes equal opportunities for all staff members
  • Developing and delivering training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of ILO staff members
  • Establishing partnerships with external organizations to enhance the ILO's human resources capacity
  • Providing advice and guidance to senior management on all human resources matters

 

Desirable profile

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following qualifications:

  • An advanced university degree in human resources management, business administration, or a related field
  • At least fifteen years of relevant professional experience, including five years at the international level
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing human resources strategies that align with organizational objectives
  • Experience managing budgets and resources effectively
  • Strong knowledge of human resources policies and procedures, as well as international labor standards
  • The ability to promote an inclusive and diverse work environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of French or another official UN language is desirable.

Conditions of employment

The conditions of employment are in accordance with the ILO's Staff Regulations and Rules. The FTA contract will be for a period of two years, subject to the organization's needs and availability of funding. The salary is competitive and will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Other benefits include medical insurance, a pension plan, and 30 days of annual leave.
