Livelihoods and Food Security Specialist Syria Response Office

What we are looking for:

A highly qualified, experienced and dynamic Livelihoods and Food Security Specialist to support the design, development and implementation of the LFS programme in the areas of operation of the Syria Response Office. 

The purpose of the LFS Specialist position is technical development of the specific CC, strategic direction and quality assurance. The CC Specialist is responsible for mentoring, training and capacity building of staff in CC technical capacity, as well as assisting the CC through the development of tools that can be used to implement CC projects.  What you will do:

1. Responsible for the development of Country Office-level LFS strategy and other programme development initiatives.
2. Ensure that the LFS programme evolves to remain relevant to respond to the needs, changing context, conflict dynamics and opportunities for early recovery. 
3. Ensure that the LFS programme addresses both programmatic and relevant policy issues and continue strengthening synergies with the Advocacy Unit.
4. Identify synergies between LFS and other NRC Core Competencies to ensure integrated programming is promoted, where relevant and feasible. 
5. Provide technical support and foster two-way collaborative relationships with the LFS Project Managers/Coordinators. 
6. Responsible for ensuring teams have access to appropriate implementation tools and relevant technical guidance. 
7. Responsible for quality assurance, with a focus on policies and procedures; technical standards, pilots, safe and inclusive programming and Monitoring and Evaluation, through harmonization and strengthening of tools and methodologies.
8. Responsible for leading on the specific LFS CC quality inputs to proposal design and development and review of CC LFS inputs to donor reports.
9. Contribute to global and regional programmes, including ensuring a constructive exchange with other NRC LFS programmes.
10. Contribute to the institutionalization of cash-based interventions and market-based programmes though capacity building and interdepartmental engagement.
11. Represent NRC’s LFS CC in sector specific coordination platforms and in any other meetings as requested by the line manager.
12. Responsible for representation with donors or other stakeholders as requested by the Head of Programme.

What you will bring:

• Strong background in economics, private sector development, business administration, statistics, or related fields is preferred. 
• Minimum 4 years of experience in senior capacity within LFS in a humanitarian/ recovery context.
• Experience working in complex and volatile contexts. Knowledge of the context in Syria is highly preferable.
• Technical Livelihoods and Economics expertise with experience on developing and implementing cash-based programming. 
• Knowledge and skills in market analysis, cash-based interventions and market-based programmes 
• Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile with documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Knowledge of Arabic is a strong added value. 

What we offer:

• Duty station: Amman Jordan
• Contract: Until end of December (Renewal is subject to performance and funds availability)
• Travel: Up to 20% international travel
