Migration and Asylum (MAP), is India’s first and only dedicated legal centre for the study of asylumand migration issues. Established in 2013, MAP adopts the law as a tool to promote safe migrationandrecognisesitasapowerfulinstrumentforempowerment,analysis,advocacyandpolicydevelopment. Asa result of itsefforts, MAPhasemerged todayasone of theforemost advocatesfor forced migrants in the region and works to expand the legal protection space for this group. MAPrequiresthe Manager to be integrallyinvolved in organisationaldevelopment byleading apeoplemanagementstrategycoveringtalentacquisition,induction,learninganddevelopment,leadership training, performance assessments, compensation, health, and welfare. In addition, thepositioncallsforthedevelopingofeffectiveandemployee-friendlyHRmanagementpolicies,procedures and systems that are in line with local and international good practices. The Managerwould also be responsible for creating an environment that fosters individual growth, in line withorganisationalrequirements.

KeyRolesandResponsibilities
- Implement MAP’s HR policies and systems and undertake periodic review of the same toensurealignmentwithupdates,ever-changinginternationalunderstandingofgoodpractices,aswellasorganisationalvaluesandethos;
- Focus on continuous design and improvement of key HR processes to make them standard,efficientandscalable;
- Implement and refine end-to-endrecruitment and induction processesso asto ensure agood fit of candidates to programmes and roles therein; review employee contracts, offerletters,andsupportingdocumentsandsupervisemanagementofemployeefiles;
- Partakeinthegoalcascadeprocessatthebeginningoftheyearandensuretheimplementationoftheorganisation’sperformancereviewsystemandfeedbackprocesswithaviewtoincreasestaffmotivationandcontinuousdevelopment;
- IdentifyandfacilitateLearningandDevelopment(L&D)opportunitiesforbothprogrammeandsupportstaff;
- Managetheyear-endcycleincludingincrementsandpromotions;
- Lead internal employee engagement in the team to aid a positive work environment, whichcouldincludefunatworkevents,celebrations,formalandinformalemployeecommunicationforums(townhalls,skipmeetingsetc.);
- Prepareforandsupportaudits;ensurethatanycorrectiveactionsrelatingtoHRmanagementareclosedoutinatimelymanner;
- ConductstafftrainingsonvariousHRsystemsandpolicies(e.g.,POSHtraining);
- BuildindigitalcapabilitywithinHRsystemswherepossible;
- Managetheexitprocessandidentifyissuesthatmightbeemergingfromexitinterviews;
- Maintainup-to-dateknowledgeofemploymentandlabourlawsandensureMAPiscompliantwiththesame;
- ProvidecomprehensiveHRadviceandsupporttothemanagementteam(especiallyincaseofgrievanceordisciplinarysituations);and
- Suchotherrelatedtasksthatmaybeassignedfromtime-to-time.
TeamStructure
The Manager will lead the team of administrative staff, and will be reporting directly to the ChiefOperations Officer (COO). S/he will also be working closely with the senior leadership team at MAP,includingtheExecutiveDirector.
Qualification&Experience
- MBAorPGDMwithspecializationinHRorPG;
- 5-6 years of experience in the HR domain working on all aspects of people management,including, recruitment, staff management, performance evaluation, staff engagement andmotivation;
- Knowledgeofrelevantemploymentlawsandpractices;
- High-qualitywrittenandverbalcommunicationskills(HindiandEnglish);
- Abilitytodevelopstronginterpersonalskills,andengagewithalllevelsintheorganisation;
- Strongworkethicandattentiontodetailinallaspectsofwork;
- Creativethinkerandproblemsolver;
- Consummateprofessionalindiscretion,discernment,andconfidentiality;and
- FamiliaritywithHRsystemsinthedevelopmentsectorwillbeanadvantage.
