Purpose of the position: The purpose of the project is to support the Director and Heads on departmental and cross-functional projects.

Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance is a public-private partnership committed to saving children's lives and protecting people's health by increasing equitable use of vaccines in lower-income countries. The Vaccine Alliance brings together implementing country and donor governments, the World Health Organisation, UNICEF, the World Bank, the vaccine industry, technical agencies, civil society, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and other private sector partners. Gavi uses innovative finance mechanisms, including co-financing by recipient countries, to secure sustainable funding and adequate supply of quality vaccines. Since 2000, Gavi has contributed to the immunisation of more than 1 billion children and the prevention of more than 18 million future deaths. 
THE ROLE
The Operations Department is a key enabling function at the Gavi Secretariat and is comprised of various teams, including Operations, Procurement, Travel, Travel Security, Crisis Management, Events, Vendor Management and Facilities. 
The Department supports Gavi’s mission by:
  • Caring for and protecting our people;
  • Making stuff easy and efficient for everyone;
  • Driving value & compliance up and costs down.
The Department aim’s to provide motivated young professionals an opportunity to contribute to an international organisation and to work in an office environment. 

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the Events team in rolling out key internal and external events / retreats / meetings;
  • Support the Operations Team in organisation / content of ‘Team Date’;
  • Provide inputs to the Gavi Recognition Team and Gavi Social Club;
  • Conduct various tasks related to the introduction of the Contract lifecycle management tool;
  • Support the Director and Heads with any other tasks as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
ACADEMIC
  • University degree in public health, health economics, public or business administration, social sciences, or other relevant field or equivalent, related training or experience.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrated capacity to manage a variety of activities simultaneously and take initiative;
  • Eagerness to learn new things;
  • Excellent team player with a service orientation and flexibility;
  • Intellectually curious with an investigative mindset.
LANGUAGES
  • Written and spoken fluency English is essential;
  • Fluency in French or any other language highly desirable.
