Mission and objectives

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism. UNV is active in around 130 countries every year. With Field Presences in over 80 countries, UNV is represented worldwide. UNV is administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and reports to the UNDP Executive Board.

Context

The description of assignment (DOA) is a key document in the promotion of UNV and the recruitment of UN Volunteers. It represents UNV not only to candidates but also to UN partners and donors. The current PDF template needs an upgrade in terms of readability, content and overall design. This will be used across UVP and shared widely. The design will be used for all downloads of DOAs across UVP and assist UNV it its work to recruit exceptional talent across the globe.

Task description

UNV would like to improve the look and usability of the description of assignment (DOA) document that is exported from UVP to PDF. UVP creates these documents based on rendering HTML code and inputs the text information contained in the DOA. The design should be simple and clean and allow greater readability of the content. The UVP development team will attempt to replicate the target design in the UVP templating engine. UNV will provide the updated content for the document by email and a brief on the UVP platform. Draft designs can be submitted for review and feedback and the eventual final design will be shared with the UVP development team to be implemented. Any technical constraints will be shared with the designer in consultation with the development team and UNV team. Separate designs will be required for onsite and online DOAs.
