Jhpiego is hiring a Consultant Midwifery - for rolling out the Nurse Practioner in Midwifery Educator (NPME) course and establishing ‘Midwifery-led Care Units’ to transform maternal and neonatal health care. Consultant will work under the supervision State Head UNFPA Rajasthan, & Lead Midwifery -Nursing Jhpiego India, support the implementation of the program’s annual work plan by assisting in designing, tracking and supporting the implementation and monitoring of respective training program activities.

 

Duration of consultancy: 06 months

Responsibilities

Co-ordination with state team on functionalizing Midwifery Led Care Units (MLCUs) and

Coordination with parent Nursing College for skill labs and virtual lab utilization. Assist in timely procurement of items;

Overall co-ordination of Midwifery activities with district health society for fund mobilization for training and mentoring;

Assist in functionalizing the district Midwifery Action group and NMTI coordination committee

Support the International Midwifery Educators for organizing and conduct sessions of the Nurse Practitioner Midwifery Educators as per the learning resources package at NMTI.

Assist IMEs in onsite physical academic training including theory and clinical mix to the trainees

Assist NPMEs in formulating micro-teaching plan and clinical roster of the trainees

Assist in the mentoring of NPMEs along with IME and maintain all academic documentation / clinical records as per INC norm

Supervise and support the clinical training of the NPMEs in the parent hospital in all shift

Support operationalization of midwifery services at Panna Dai Zanana Hospital

Conduct Periodic reviews of Education and Clinical services as per Indian Nursing Council Standards

Coordination to ensure quality training of Midwifery Educators (MEs) and Nurse Practitioners in Midwifery (NPMs) at NMTIs for initial batches in Udaipur.

Coordination with various stakeholders (IMEs/MEs, OBGYN department of parent hospital) engaged in training of MEs at the NMTIs.

Facilitate periodic interprofessional collaboration meetings with NMTI & Parent Institute

Support interdepartmental collaboration in existing Nursing college and NMTI

Establishing standard course assessment/ continuous evaluation protocols and tools ensuring competency-building on relevant clinical skills

Support the NMTI in establishing a system of assessment with required tools to track progress on clinical competencies of trainees based on the ICM standard & WHO Educators standards

Collect the educational and clinical data for institutional record and facilitate sharing with state through Institution

Coordinate and support NMTI, MLCU, District and local stakeholder for local level sensitization on role of NPMs & NPMEs

Support IMEs and plan mentoring visit jointly for executing 12 month mentoring of MEs trained from NMTI Udaipur.

Liaise between the appropriate authority and trainees.

Undertake any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Qualifications

BSc (Nursing) required. Additional Master’s degree in OBG Nursing/ NPME would be preferred.

1 - 3 years of experience in teaching/ education/conducting clinical training programs in PSE/ MNCH.

Technical knowledge and field experience in health programs, particularly Nursing/ Midwifery Education focusing on essential Obstetric Care, IMNCI and Family Planning.

Technical knowledge and experience of pre-service education for the development for Nurses.

Knowledge of latest GoI Midwifery and other related guidelines, program management, Program Implementation plan (PIP) process and PIP development.

Familiarity with the Indian health system, key stakeholders and relevant government policies/strategies particularly National Rural Health Mission and Indian Nursing Council.
